I know there are alot of aftermarket options for this, but what can I say...I'm a stickler for the Manufacturer. That and I'd also like to keep my passeger/rider pegs available for use. I am searching to see if anyone may know where I can find/buy the OEM Buell Saddlebag Kit (P/N: 91458-05Y) & Trunk Bag Kit (P/N: 91456-05Y) that fits 2003+ Buell XB Lightning Models...If anyone can help me find these from a merchant or perhaps if someone may have them and are willing to sell them, I would greatly appreciate the help. Please send any info here or to my e-mail Gauchoman3@aol.com I'm new to the forum and not sure how it all works yet so dont know if I'll be able to find this thread again after I make it. Thank you again for any help you can give to a fellow Buell-er. |

I don't know the part numbers, but if they are the expandable semi rigid cloth fiber ones they looked cool. They had no degree of being waterproof at all, but would hold enough clothes and such for a single person three day weekend. I had them on my City-X and liked them, but the aftermarket came out with some better stuff in the past few years. |

I have the tank bag and the zipper failed after 9 months...but Buell was shut down by then so I had a new one sewn in. That cost close the half the price of the bag. Look at a Wolfmann and you'll have a great bag. I had an Endro until the kid's next door dog got it. |

I know there's been issues with the OEM Bags (which are the way you described them Etennuly...meaning rigid cloth/fiber) being water-resistant or water-proof. And though I never planned on riding in a thunderstorm, the way they were made gave me the feeling they would be ok. And I looked at the Wolfman Saddlebags, Birdy...they look great, albeit a little bulky, but I dont know how well those "throw over" buckles will fit underneath the skyline seat on my XB9SX. I know there's plenty of aftermarket options (I think the top of that list for what I'm looking for is the Cortech Sport saddlebags) but the reason I am intently trying to find the OEM Buell system (with the part numbers listed earlier) is because I still want to be able to use the passenger/rider foot pegs. Also, I liked the "rigid" design of the OEM bags (so that they'd keep their shape when empty) and that the straps connecting the two bags were designed to fit underneath the seat...giving it a very clean look as opposed to the "thrown-over" the passenger seat look. Those reasons (Shape/material of the bags, ability to still use passenger pegs, & straps designed to fit underneath the Buell seat) are my main reasons I'm trying to find someone who is willing to sell their OEM Buell bags. If there's an aftermarket company that anyone knows of that meets those same goals, I'd be interested to hear about them... In the meantime, thanks for the input...I do appreciate it...and if anyone is interested in selling their OEM Buell Saddlebags & Trunk Bag, please let me know. Thanks again. |
