But I didn't get to scuff them in all considering it started to rain just when I got on the bike. The tires them selves really do look narrow compared to the Dunlops but its just because the M1's have such a round profile in comparison to the stockers.I hope to spend some time on them tomorrow.I hope I'm happy. |

M1 and to everyone else that put the M1's on there bikes. This might sound crazy but did you guys feel at the seat of your pants any if at all a loss of torque down low????The reason I ask is the stock tires and the M1's are a completely different in profile, height, etc. |

Not really... I wasn't looking for it though. It stands to reason that if the tire is taller when aired up and a rider sitting on it that it would cause that... |

Cause I noticed that second gear wheelies are just a tad more work. When the stock tire were on there second gear was as easy as pie.The handling of these tire is as all of you reported superb.BTW what are you guys running for psi in the tire cold???? |

Bads, that is interesting. I recently changed from the stockers to Pirelli Diablos and also have a harder time getting the power wheelies from going from first to second. I never thought that it might be the tires but I bet that is exactly what it is. |

34.5 F/ 35.5-36 R I have found that under 34psi front the bike will try to fillow lines in the road pretty bad. |

Bad that makes perfect sense . . .if your overall gearing has been slightly altered to the a change in the circumference of the tire changing, you would feel the change in the upper gears first, rather than in first gear, as it takes more energy to wheelie (and everything else) then |

I also noticed that 2nd gear wheelies take a bit more effort. I used to bring it up to the balance point nealy every time I shifted from 1st to 2nd at WOT, now I feel like I have to slide back on the seat and "try" to bring it up that high. My current pressures are 34/36, but I'll run as much as 40psi in the rear depending on the situation. This set is my 3rd set of M1s and I love them, although I am considering shopping around for more mileage next time. |

Like I said I'm not having problems at all doing wheelies from 1st to 2nd.My bike used to do them with ease from 2nd to 3rd.Hell I could get the bike to wheelie in 3rd around 55 mph, thats most likely a out now.Not that its important just noticed some change. |

ive always noticed the difference when putting on any new set of tires. since i usually wait until mine are good and worn, that makes for a heck of a shorter tire, then putting on a new one, you lose that advantage. all im saying is that it might not be brand specific. anyone care to guess the difference in height between a well worn tire and a new one? really, i dont know, but would like to. wonder if affects the speedo a tad as well? my guess would be somewhere between 1/2" and 1 " total diameter loss. am i way off? any thoughts? |

A 1/2" sounds right in the ball park. |

alright, my tire is worn out, badly. i have a new 208 due any day now in the mail. i will take a wire and mold it to the profile of the worn one, while its still on the bike, then compare it to the new one once its mounted. at least that will answer it for me and dunlops. ill post it when i find out, then try and do some math and find the difference in mechanical advantage. |

For once...an interesting (if not somewhat useless) thread! I have noticed the difference in new tires. However, my S1W is a lot easier to wheelie than my S3T. Do you think the S1 wheelies easier because it doesn't have all that extra weight up front? But seriously, the M1's will be fitted on my S1W shortly. I'll have to give a report at that time. |
