well the image was too intense, would not upload. any way my buell grew a tail. i have pics, but dont know how to reduce resolution to fit on here. so wife scrambled, left home midnight, drove 360 miles to deliver my spare belt, then we all convoyed home. so confidence shaken, still fun, but i need a chain drive set up. i ride late at night, on weekends, and i go far from home. so i need reliable bike to play on. we have a lot of road construction going on here, and most parking lots are gravel. so out of the 6700 miles on the belt at failure, maybe 200 miles were on gravel. |

I've heard of some '03 belts breaking early, but this is the first I've heard of an '04 belt breaking. Do you have all the stock belt guards in place? |

Is this a common problem on the XBs? |

Depends on who you talk to. The original '03 belts are weaker than the upgraded belt, which in turn is apparently not as good as the new '04 system. As long as you're gentle with it (a requirement for ALL the belts) and keep your belt guards in place (unsightly though they may be), there is no reason your belt won't last to the recommended replacement time and/or beyond. I've got over 15K on mine right now, one of the original '03 belts. |

At 13.5K, my rear tire went flat on me on the interstate. While the rear tire was off, I went ahead and replaced the original '03 belt. I have all of the belt guards in place, and I do not wheelie. |
