OK, I'm a little crazy but I know this is gonna make good power. My master fabricator friend and I just modified a thunder header muffler to work on my 2003 XB9R. I have ECM spy and know how to load maps and reset TPS and a little more. I am currently running a may for a Jardine GP1 (now removed). I would like to try a free flowing map preferably for a force pipe(the most similar to my custom muffler)to start. So any suggestions or maps you can email me to try would be much appreciated. Trust me this thing sounds SICK. It has gobs of power at 4500rpm and peaks really well at about 5500 and keeps climbing with my current map. But, never the less it falls on it's face from 3000-400rpm and would like to see it run better. I would love to datalog but don't have a good device to do so with. I wish I could use my android phone! Any help? Guidance? Suggestions? Thanks. ARCTIC9R |

I have done maps on My xb9 2003 ecm for the thunder header and the force pipe. they are very close to the Jardine maps. IMO start with what you have. Ride it and read the afv... now go ride it real hard and read the afv asap. if different its off. time to data log to adjust with MLV... make new map. balance to front. (best if added in a front O2 and just put both on a switch to go from one to the other to do separate logs per cylinder to adjust. Adjusting on the bike to data logs is far better than dyno time and you get data on your bike where you ride it. not someone Else's bike on there dyno not in your environment. That's guess work and can be horrible on your bike but perfect on theirs. I have seen this too many times and even done it myself I call all pre made maps starter maps. they will get you in the game but you must adjust to you on your bike where you ride. |

Xoptimizedrsx, You wouldn't by chance let me get one of the maps from you for my thunder header? I have a laptop with a bad battery which is not ideal for dataloggin nor do i know how, I know there is instructions but it all seems way out of my tuning knowledge for the time being. I do know some people who tune, but, are more common with HD's. I would even be willing to pay a minimal fee for you to email me a map you have created for the time being. I'm just really focused on removing some of the horrible decel pop and lag I get from 3k-4k after coming down from WOT. ( That damn torque loss from 2-1 thunder is totally different that the GP1 I had but i love that top end.) I just wanna smooth it out more and make sure I'm not running to lean in any area to possibly damage the engine. I will be copying this to you as a PM, sorry. |

yup you can get it as soon I a verify which firmware you have. this should get you in the pattern, However you will need to match it out to your bike in your environment. This was made in Humid Hot Florida at 3 ft sea level. see your email I sent back on what I need to load this to your file so we know it matches your ecm. |

The maps posted on the thread from the link above will work. It's odd to have a hole between 4 and 4.5k rpm, it's usually 2.5-3k rpm. (Message edited by TerryS1980 on August 09, 2011) |

I do have one question about that map. Shouldn't there be different maps for the front and rear cylinders? |

The MSQ file contains front and rear timing and fuel maps. Did you download the file from the other thread? If so what did you save it as? |

no i saved it...i was just curious..the front cylinder map and the rear cylinder maps are different on the race map. I'm gonna see how the bike runs once it gets back from its 10,000 service...then ill probably try out that map |

The front cylinder fuel map will be slightly richer and front timing map is a little more advanced. |

well the issue is as many have seen. maps made on one bike may be great on that bike. However, when tried in another bike with the same setup they are hit and miss especially in different settings. you have the tools. You need do a data log and adjust to the data from your bike. use any known in the ball park map as a starter map then fine tune it to you on your bike riding it on the road. No dyno can do better than that. see a how to datalog post... It's quite simple. |
