Tatsu,
I've had the muffler on my bike since 1997 and it broke in 2002 and I took it apart to repair and the packing was still there and in tact....I personally don't think you will ever have to worry about that issue, but if it ever comes to pass , be sure and call me so I can see it and I'll get you back on the road!!!!! KEVIN
