Unfortunately, American Sport Bike has some major server issues and can not currently take orders. Contact LJ in part at Bumpus HD. They are board sponsors and Buell enthusiasts and LJ will work hard for you! (615)849-8025 |

I've spent many hours trying to find another (over the counter) source for the Heat Temp Sensor. No joy. Reverse engineering a critical part, such as the HTS is, could very easily end in tears, and a lot of cash down the drain... This email is as close as I've gotten. Response from US Sensor Hello Tom. Sorry I did not respond sooner. Our minimum order is typically $250.00. If you are still interested, we may be able to offer something, but we'd need a bit more info about the thermistor characteristics (Resistance vs Temperature curve shape and other details). Let me know if you'd like to discuss this further. Otherwise, thanks for your email considering U.S. Sensor. Dear Mr. Foster: I am interested in having a NTC thermistor assembly constructed, and was wondering what is the minimum order you will accept? The thermistor modifies a reference voltage from 5V to zeroV. The thermistor must be fitted into a 3/8"-16 x 1/2" hex bolt, and have 4.9K ohms +/- 15% at 25C. The max operating temperature is 300C, min -20C. |

IAT yes, but I can't think of many other engines that would use the head temp sensor except another air cooled machined. I have one that I think is dead/damaged if it might help the cause, I could send it to them if they wanted it. After removing the silicone from the end there may be marking to a standard thermistor which will give us the temp vs. resistance curve. I haven't done anything more than cut the wire off flush so I could remove it to send the heads off for repair. |

Oh crap, sorry, that was my bad. Got mixed up. That's what happens when I post while really tired. Actually, now that I think about it. Have you checked at your local dealer and asked for the ETS for a sportster of about the same year? Wouldn't surprise me if they were the same. (Message edited by cataract2 on July 08, 2011) |

Make sure it is really in stock and not "available". I called one of the online parts departments of a Harley dealer to see about stock on the parts, I was told they don't ever keep parts on hand but the parts are available to order from Harley and as such they appear in their search database on the website to sell to unsuspecting people like us. It wasn't IronMachine and I don't remember who it was, but take in stock with a grain of salt until you talk to someone. As far as I know stuff at American Sport Bike is really stocked and when the stock runs out it normally throws a flag in their e-commerce software and labels the part as out of stock on the website.
