Thanks to Al @ American Sport Bike, I have my Heli Bar Triple-Tree Touring setup installed on my XB today! What a cool prelude to my favorite day of the year! Got up early, cruised down to Al's (110 miles,) chatted a bit, and picked up one of the last black-anodized Heli setups. Cruised back, found my local Snap-On guy so I could purchase the T45 Tamper-Proof torx driver, and did the install. About 45 minutes later, here's what I have... and... Man what a difference! The ride is awesome! No more Mr. sore wrists! I can't wait to see how the long commute to work goes (50 miles on the freeway.) I wonder how much more wind exposure I'll get? It feels much different to ride also...more like Keith's lightning. Only complaints regarding the install relates to the fact that the holes tapped for the ignition switch bolts are not deep enough (they bottom out on the stock bolts) and required spacer washers to secure the switch. Also, on the clutch side, I can't get the angle I want for the clutch lever because it hits the electrics for the lights... Life is all about compromises. At any rate, next to go on are the CRG levers... Happy 4th! Chris

Chris, looks good... I had orginally thought about putting those on my 12R when I bought it but I've gotten used to the riding position so I haven't given it much thought lately... Let us know how it works out after you've ridden it for a while... And let us know how you like the levers also, like I told ya, I like mine... Kevin |

Will do Kev... The commute's just killing my throttle wrist...I'm getting old! I figure with the Heli's, the traction grips and the throttlemeister, the 50 Mile commute (which is pretty much just "always-on throttle" and little if any shifting) will be tolerable. I can still go berserk in the canyons when I want to. The adjustable levers will be great when switching between 'street' mode and 'twisty' modes. 12S pedals and I'm golden. Chris

Chris, make sure you get the right CRG levers. The ones for the tube frame bikes will physically fit, but the brake lever will be real snug & can cause an issue with the front brake not releasing fully. |

Chris...Concerned with the wind? Check out www.laminarlip.com. They are not too far from you. A good friend owns the company and has been doing that sort of work almost his entire career. Trust me, the things really work if you like the looks. |

Barkandbite: I must have bought mine (satin) just before you did from American Sport Bike. Installed it yesterday. My ignition switch bolts did not however bottom out and seemed to tighten up fine. I took mine to a nearby auto repair shop and they loosened those pesky torx bolts up for me and mounted the ignition on the new clamp. You should be able to get nearly any usable clutch angle you want by rotating the whole bar in the clamp then re-tighten. Or, loosen the clutch perch clamp and slide it out (away from Heli clamp and rotate as desired as I did). |

Dyna: Thanks bro. Followed that thread on SportTwin and made sure I got the right ones Vaughn: I'll go re-assess the clutch housing issue, but I swear everything I did prevented me from getting the last 1/8" I wanted....I'll go look again tomorrow... Outrider: I'll check that out, thanks! Chris |

If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to see a full shot of your bike with the sport touring screen and the heli-clamps, bet it looks nice. |

Chris...I checked their website and they don't have one listed for an XBR, but don't let that discourage you. Call and talk to them, perhaps he has one that will fit and just doesn't have it listed for the application or he will do a prototype for you. Trust me, that is how he got so many different Lips in his line. Incidentally, ask if he has any pics of the custom faired bikes he build. You will be amazed at some of the things he has done. |

Boulder: Installed the CRG's this morning...took less than 5 minutes, so I'll click off a couple of shots with the ST screen and the Heli's...I think it looks tits! I went with the black because the "satin" has an almost polished look and was, IMO, a little garrish considering there is nothing else on the bike polished. The black offsets the rest of the controls...I like it Vaughn: If I slide the bars all the way out (as per the 'structions) with the stock clutch, I still didn't have the clearance. No worries because the installation of the CRG adjustables this morning righted everything. Throttlemeisters are on the way as are the traction grips. Also, I'm mounting my GPS V off the nub on the clutch housing using an SAE mount. YIKES! I just realized I'm turning my bike into a friggin' Touring model! If it starts looking like a Goldwing, someone just shoot me! Chris
