Who has this seat and is it worth the money? I do a lot of 400+ mile days. After a few hours the stock seat starts to feel like a brick. Stock seat height is 30.1. Corbin lists their seat at 29.5. Does the Corbin seat noticeably shorten he distance between the seat and the pegs? I really don't want to have to bend my knees more than I do now. |

I just got one. I love it. It still hurts a little after long rides. Corbin promises that it WILL soften up. We'll see. Follow the directions below to see the one I have...I couldn't get a stupid link to work. I'm considering getting the Corbin seat. Is it any wider that the stock one? |

Yes, it is wider than the stock one. I had mine shaved down to be at least as narrow as the stock one....I'm short and can't afford to lose any. |

It is a great seat and looks very nice indeed. Worth is a personal thing. To me it was!

Thanks Buellny. Did you buy your Corbin direct from them? Is there an added fee for a custom, custom seat? |

I'm planning on getting the Corbin. I got the streetfighter seat in the meantime. The stock seat sucks. For $160, you can't beat the streetfighter. But then again, you get what you pay for. I can't wait to try out the Corbin. I want to get it fit so I can sit a bit farther back. I'm sick of crushing the family jewels on the airbox...It never feels good. |

Question- Is the streetfighter seat a 2up seat or is it a solo? |

The StreetFighter seat is made on the same pan as the stock seat and has the same passenger seating area as the stocker. The seat foam seams just a little thicker and softer than the stock seat as well. Up front, the nose of the seat has a little more padding and a gentler slope which helps keep your butt placed back in the saddle, and your rocks off the tank. The seat rise is shaped a little different than stock, along with the softer foam you won't feel quite as much discomfort on your tailbone, but if you're tall you'll still want for more. The StreetFighter seat is a good seat for the money. I have had numerous Corbin seats on various bikes over the years (6-7 if memory serves) and only 2 of those I felt were worth the money (seat for S1 and Hawk GT), one was total junk from a quality stand point (M2, had 2 different Corbins), and the rest were at best average in build quality (BMW,Duc,Kaw). Would I like to try a Corbin on my XB12S? Hell yes! Would I spend $400 to do so? Nope. I plan on sending my stocker to Sargent for a complete custom makeover instead. YMMV |

See http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/17143/45906.html?1087567421 and scroll to the bottom. I've got a Corbin on the shop XB9S and it blows away the stock seat, AND the Buell streetfighter seat. The seat cup is better defined, is slightly more rearward, and it prevents the 60MPH hard stop wedgie a lot better. I don't think it changed the seat/peg distance much either way. It is firmer, but that is the way all Corbin seats are. They feel less comfortable when you first sit on them, but they keep pressure points from developing over long seat time like softer seats do because you don't press through all the way to the underlying seat pan. I highly recommend it. The seat cup is hard to change using the stock seat pan due to the slope of the plastic underneath. I was real close to getting out the electric knife to do some foam sculpting of my own on the stock seat prior to getting the Corbin, but the measurements I made showed that I wouldn't be able to get the results I wanted on that stock seat pan. YMMV. See the profile difference on the one I had them build for me at the URL above. If you ask for them to do the rear like American Sport Bike seat, they'll know what you mean, they kept the "recipe". You'll get the same price from me as you will if your order it direct. AL |

yeah, I ordered the seat straight from them. I ordered it the way you see it on the bike (customized) for no extra charge. I'm a very anal person when it comes to the things I own and I couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with the quality of the seat....it's perfect. |

One thing to keep in mind about the Corbin seat is how much YOU weigh and how you impact the foam and gel. Too light and the Corbin is rock hard, which is what happened to me on a Corbin seat for the Blast. Too heavy and the stock seat is not adequate. The Streetfighter seat is a great compromise, imho, of the two seats. Now, if Corbin will let you customize the seat for your weight and riding habits, perhaps then it would be worth the money. In Seattle we have a couple of shops that customize your cycle seat in that you ride the prototype and return with comments so they can get it properly set up for you. About the same price as Corbin but better fit and finish. They use your current seat pan. One of the shops does mail-order as well. |
