Planning to stock up on some emergency kit spare parts for my STT. Going to purchase, drive belt, throttle cables, clutch cable. Did I forget some parts? Already have plugs, levers, bulbs, tool kit, self defense stuff, I was thinking of getting a spare rear shock as the part # is different from all other models listed in my 2007 part book. I am concerned that it will be obsolete when I actually need a new rear shock. My cost will be about $220. Is it worth it to buy the rear shock, or have it rebuilt when it is worn out? |

All you should really have is a belt, levers and pegs. Throttle and clutch cables don't spontaneously break like belts or levers in a crash. I wouldn't worry about the shock. If you ever wear it out, there will be plenty of options for replacement or repair. |

Just buy another STT- that way you are sure to have what you need, and with the way our bike values are looking it will likely be cheaper. |

Thanks for the info, wasn't sure if the XBs were known for clutch/throttle cable failure. |

Just the tipover stuff. Mirrors Levers shifter brake pedal I like to have some other maintenance items on hand like oil filters, O rings, primary/clutch inspection cover gaskets, etc. |

Cheap beam torque wrench with a socket that fits the axle tool. Get a light one. I carry one on long trips. |

I keep thinking I need an aluminum jack. I need to make one that is like a jack stand for a travel trailer except smaller and with a screw center that goes up and down with a screw driver inserted through a hole. I should get to sketching. |

Oh. I also carry a 12" aluminum pipe to put over the allen wrenches for leverage when breaking the screws loose. |

I carry all required torx, allen, and screw bits. I also carry a 3/8 ratchet, Buell tool kit, and extra shifter and rear brake pedals. A scrip bottle of zip ties, bolts, washers, couple nuts, threadlocker, and a couple combo wrenches. I can disassemble majority of the bike on the side of the road, and I have a Firebolt. No bags. Everything carried in the tail. When I start getting some long term test results on the new "tiny" batteries I will have all the room I need........... Some bags on the Firebolt............hmmmm |
