Take my advice from much experience. Don't do it! Prep it for long term storage and keep it. You will always regret selling it if you do. There may be other Buells but this one seems special. |

ive done every upgrade you can think. Just to keep you honest, keep the bike until you've done all the upgrades I can think of I don't see any Darkhorse pulleys, rear brake hide aways, axle sliders... I could go on, but just start there, by the time you get back you can have a Welcome Home\Install Party. Seriously, keep the bike, you'll be glad you did. Hey! you can keep it here, free of charge! |

I agree, keep it! That's a really cool looking and unique bike and you'll never get your money back that you've put in it. You'll be through BMT and Tech school before you know it and wish you still had it. You might even be able to have it at school, depending on where you are and what you are doing. Trust me, I know. I'm at 19.5 years in the AF. I don't know your situation (wife, kids, bills, etc?) but you won't need the extra money if you're single such. What AFSC are you going in for? Or did you go 'open'? If you know your AFSC then you'll know your school location and length, but if you don't, I probably do. Keep the bike for now. The AF will pretty much cover the tab for taking where-ever. And if you go to Europe or Asia, then you call sell it there for bigger $$ if you decide to. |

Remember that there are no more new XB series being made, if you let it go you may never get one back. The selling market sucks and I doubt you will get that much for a bike that old so you can either give it away for peanuts, or keep it and ride it when you are home. |

Good luck in the Air Force, and thanks for your service! My son joined the A.F. and is doing well. He's learned a lot. I would really recomend taking advantage of all the schooling they offer. You have no idea how much a decent college costs, I have a daughter who I'm trying to send, and my son is free through the A.F. Sorry got side tracked. If you seel the bike good luck, but don't do anything you'll regret. Boot camp isn't that long and you might want it when you get out. |

dam guys now you have me thinking. to be honest ive been really really wanting a 1125r anyways. the xb9 is good just not a big enough engine. im sticking with buell though dont worry!! this is my 2nd and im happy! i told my dad if it was a xb12 i would keep it. tbolt pilot: im going in AF Reserves, im 19 and still have alot of school i want to finish. im going in as a 4NO(med tech) that will help me get my nursing. i live in ca. and my tech school will be in houston. so i dont think i can get my bike there. thanks for the advice. glich: the only mod im missing and il be happy is the brembo brake, after that i would be very happy. but im leaving soon and cant get it in. but once i get back from tech school im gona be getting my 1125r so if anyone knows a good one or any advice let me know. (i hope all you XB guys dont have the 1125's) |

If you are going reserves I would definitely keep it. I am a Motor Cycle Safety rep for my squadron in the Airforce. Honestly it will not be worth it to bring it to tech school. Being in student status they won't let you ride it, and if you haven't had the Airforce required training you could be putting your career in jeopardy. If you are wondering what the Airforce requires it is simple, the new AFI that is being written says that you need to have some kind of Motor Cycle Safety training with in the last three years, if you have a sport bike (yes the Buell is considered a sport bike) you have 30 days to complete the Sport Bike Rider Course (SBRC provided by MSF). You can get a 30 day extension after that but that would be up to your Squadron Commander. I am an instructor at Little Rock AFB, and we deal with new Airmen in training and your life style is limited while in student status. I know that our Squadron will not let an Airman ride a motorcycle in student status. If you have any more questions about the Airforce rules on riding let me know. Good luck!!! Hope this helps. |

Hey man, I'm about to go Air Force too, trust me, that's the worst experience you will have in your life is to sell off your baby previous to leaving, Friend of mine went Army Ranger, sold off his Camaro and wishes he hadn't, and he's been hunting it down for the past 3 years |

migs: you'll learn that there are rules and instructions for EVERYTHING in the military. Including how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. |

What about keeping the xb, and then getting the 1125 when you get done with the air force? |

I'm in the Navy in Japan. My lightning is sitting in my dads garage patiently waiting for me to come home and flog the hell out of it. 15 more months. Can't wait. Good luck with the AF. And yes the military has regulations for everything. Even on how to fold skivvies. |

I was considering trading my XB for an 1125. Then I figured, Why not both? It'll just take some time to save the $. Besides, the XB just turned 20k miles, and has so many "little things" done to it, it would be sacrilege to let anyone else own it. I have a few more things that I'm doing to it as well. Meanwhile, I'm quietly saving for that 1125. ssshhhhhhhh............} I becha you'll be jonesin' to ride it when you get home............. |

So wait till you out of training, and if you still want to sell it, the market will still be here. My XB is getting parted out and it is killing me. It has taken me two years to get to this point, kindsa like selling my favorite dog, just hurts. Keep it for now |

Who says you can't have more than one bike? Besides you may as well save up for the true "best of the Buells" aka the 1190! |
