I have a new (to me) 07 XB12R in Yellow. I want to put my old black plastics on it from my '05 XB12R- Problem is, it doesn't have the air intake vent above the gas cap and the newer '07 frame has the hole welded shut, where the air used to come in on the '05 model. Will enough air get in under the older tank cover or should I run with the newer plastics until I can get around to drilling some cool holes in the older black tank cover? Im running a K&N filter and a Drummer. |

I'm taking it you never found the issue of the 05? I'm thinking you'd be ok to run it with the old plastics. It's not like there's any kind of seal with the plastics mounted. |

I got a good deal on a '07 with 20,000kms. I still have the problem '05 sitting in pieces in the shed. |

If you look around you can find some threads where they cut out the BUELL letters or just a design in the air box cover then attached some wire mesh behind it. |

Paul I've been running old plastics without the vent on my 2008 and don't notice any difference. I've been without the vent for about 1500 miles |
