It's not a pain to install at all. Simply remove the front fairing (which is pretty easy, for me (as I have 1125r mirrors) all you have to do is remove mirrors, remove two windscreen screws and remove the bottom mount screws on the side. ECM is directly behind the fairing in the front. In fact, I installed my Erik Buell Racing ECM in about fifteen minutes. Then, I realized that the fan logic wasn't working right and removed it in about 6-7 minutes and installed the old one. (Message edited by noone1569 on May 31, 2011) |

No bottom mounting screws, but turn signals need to come off. If you look at the pictures in this thread, you can see the ECM at the top of the light mounting bracket. Be careful with the bolts that mount the ECM and top of the lights, they are self threading style which means if you aren't careful you can wreck the holes and the lights and ECM will not get pulled tight to the frame. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/633650.html?1306778554 |

Yeah, that's what I meant by the bottom bolts, as I don't have signals there anymore All in all, not a difficult thing for even the most un-technical people such as myself. |

Is their a serious difference in power or will I notice a difference in fuel economy |

Power? I don't know, but the bike will run better. Smoother acceleration, no lean surge, easier starts, and better fuel economy. The bike will run the way it was designed to run, not the way the EPA forced it to run. |

On the Erik Buell Racing racing website there is only one choice for the 9 race ecm so that leads me to think that the maps are still the same as the original race ecm. They sure put a lot of time in creating maps for almost every type of exhaust on the 12. Tyler - What kind of exhaust do you have or will you be installing? I have the same bike and some maps if you have an ECMSpy cable. |

I thought you had to do a TPS reset as well on the XBs... |

My dad bought the race ECM for his 1125R from Erik Buell Racing. He said that you can just tell them what kind of exhaust you get and they will customize it for you. I would give them a call and see if they can customize the ECM for you before they send it. |

Sy speaks truth; a TPS reset is required for any ECM that is new to a bike. |

A tps reset is required when any service is done to either the TB or the ECM. |
