I've been dealing with choppy throttle responce from my bike and am not sure what can be done that could help. I usually do not wait for the bike warm up as because im just daily commuting with my bike. So maybe the bike not warming up completely is a factor It has a very weak idle and must be revved high from a stop. Maybe my stronger clutch boggs the bike when not under high revvs.
resetting my TPS: I've move the idle-adjust to zero, reset, then readjusted to get a normal idle. and now my bike does not want to idle at all.. and the throttle responce is way way off..
would it be that my tps is bad?
PS: I've noticed the throttle body is popping, looking further, there are minor 'explosions' (for lack of a better term) within the throttle body
loosen all throttle cables before performing a TPS reset, then re-adjust after TPS is reset warm. you may have throttle cable holding the plate open screwing up your TPS settings.
I talked to the dealer and they said when you do the TPSreset you should also follow with an AFC reset.. never read nor heard of this before.. AirFuelControll.. or something with the AirFuel mixture..
our bikes do not have MAFs (biggest flaw in out FI systems, IMO).
I don't think it would cause your problem, but you can reset the AFV (adaptive fuel value) with ECMSpy as well. I think it's maybe even on the same screen as where you reset the tps?
it's AFV for "adaptive fuel value" which allows the fuel map to shift 5% varied on what the 02 sensors tell the ECM. This should always be reset when the TPS is reset.
TPS reset must be done with the throttle plate COMPLETELY closed, back off cable until you can actually feel the throttle plate contact bore when you close the throttle,it will almost stick, then set your TP so bike starts and idles cold. Reset idle when completely warmed up if needed..Suspect your leaving cold may have fouled plugs-might as well replace em. And AFV reset is only needed if yours is skewed more than 5%--normal to see a range of 95-105, more than that and something is off.
ok i will check the AirTemp Sensor.. I cannot get my bike to idle anymore, even with the idle-screw all the way IN.. could it be that at the throttle end of the idle-screw had gone loose? because I have in the past been able to raise the idle up kinda far.. no go whatsoever here now
If you're talking about the idle adjust beside the air scoop... You may want to check to make sure it's still in one piece. You'll have to take off the whole air box to get to it. Mine rusted inside the cable and broke, easy fix, if you can find a new one.
it will not idle it will not idle it will not idle
I usually have all the answers for my bike, but this time i do not.. i've taken off the airbox and checked all i can see down there, nothing.. Im not sure WHAT TO DO!!!
You know what, I had a habbit of twisting closed the throttle past the stopping point and torquing it back too.. maybe this has caused the plate to get loose, but has got me wondering.. I bet its not the full solutiion to the problem.. I'm not giving up just yet about taking it to the technician! And I noticed that when the bike is cold it will not idle at all, and needs constant throttle at low-mid RPM. Once warmed up the bike seems to be more active and normal, but have not yet been able to adjust because I just brought it to my parents garage and eating some dinner!!!
My bike did the same after filling up with cheap gas. It wouldn't idle sometimes and it would hesitate real bad around 4500 rpm and sometimes backfire. After I was able to put some gas from my usual ethanol free station it ran like a champ.
