I've got a 9R with the race kit and I think it sounds awesome, but that's only compared to stock. The only other XB I've heard is a 12R which is halfway between the 9 stock and 9race in terms of volume and bark. With everyone asking for sound clips, there should be an archive of sound clips with different exhausts. People could record their bikes and upload clips for all to hear. |

sound clips really dont give a good example of the actual sound |

BadS1 & myself came to a conclusion tonight that his wifes Blast with the Vance & Hines pipe is actually louder than his XB12 with the Drummer. At least thats the way it sounded to us. His bike sounds good & is definitely not too loud at all. But that little Blast makes a hell of a racket |

I've heard both my own bike with drummer and many with the race kit on a meeting with over 200 buells (of which most were tubers btw). I would say the drummer is just slightly more noisier than the racekits' pipe. But then, I was on my own bike, never heard my own bike drive by WOT. But what's for sure to me is that the drummer SOUNDS softer, because it's a deep & heavy throaty kinda sound, unlike the somewhat steelish 'more open' sound of the racecan. Not that is sounds bad tho, just ..uh.. different When cruising downtown, I think the drummer sounds very acceptable. People turn their heads but don't cover their ears, unlike when I was riding my sportster with open pipes. |

How about performance between the 3, which is best and why. I'm not sure what I want to get. Most of my riding is above 4000 rpm. I already have the 12 airbox cover K@N and pro series plugs, and cut the intake tube down. |

<I already have the 12 airbox cover K@N and pro series plugs, and cut the intake tube down.> Does cutting down the intake tube (I assume you mean velocity stack????) have any benefits? Mike. |

oops, I thought that I seen here to remove the stack. When I did there was a gap between the frame and the box. So I cut it down to just below the air box. Can't really feel a differance but I guess every little bit counts. |

Don't remove the stack...remove the snorkel that runs through the frame. |

I've heard all 3 pipes in XB's in the same parking lot on the same day. My ranking from "freaking loud" to "not so freaking loud": 1. D&D 2. Race Kit 3. Drummer |

According to my ears, the Drummer is significantly louder than the Race Kit. |

Yeah, I would probably put the stack back if I was you. |

i've had the race can and now have a drummer, and even though the drummer is "louder" the sound is very different. the drummer has a much lower tone compared to the race can and it eliminated 99% of the backfiring i had with the race can too. volume alone is not a good way to compare the mufflers imo, consider the tone as well. |
