Well, I just overhauled my top end. New rings, pistons, valves, guides, rockers, and lifters.

I got it fired up, threw on all my gear, headed out to the highway. Was turning left at a light, one of those goofy intersections where the road is more than 90* angle, more like 120*.

I got a bit carried away, "Oooh, this brings back memories." Leaned a bit hard and gave it a bit too much throttle... You guessed it... The rear end lost traction, slipped out from under me. I steered into the skid out of instinct from driving in snow. It eventually caught and high sided. Tossed me about 10-15 feet.

I was wearing all my gear, no worries. It was at 10-15 mph tops. It scuffed my jacket a bit, nothing serious. I bonked my head, got a bit of a headache.

And then there's the bike... The frame puck kind of did its duty... It ripped off and prevented any scratching or anything, but the frame dented under where it was located.

dented frame

It's also leaking oil from what looks like the rear cylinder head area. I'm not sure if I didn't get one of the push rod cover orings in right or what... I used hylomar on the rocker gaskets, so I'm pretty sure they're not the culprit.

I'm going to have to rotate the motor down to figure out what's leaking, so I'll re-wrap the lower portion of the header with new heat wrap and respray it black.

If the frame isn't torn, just dented, would I be good to slap a new puck over the dent? It's kind of hard to see in the picture...

i've seen people fill it in with putty.
i've seen people fail at pulling the dent out and then fill it in with putty.

i'd recomend just filling it in with putty.
cuz i don't think a frame puck will stick to what's left of the surface area to stick to.

or use your insurance to get a new bike/frame

Cold back tire + too much throttle = crash. You are'nt the first to do this. Sorry about the bike but good to hear you are alright.

You could try dry ice on it . If you Google "Removing a Dent with Dry Ice" or go to Youtube and do a search . It might be worth a try , maybe you could get some of the dent out before using any Bondo .
