Just assuming you're asking about heads.. Here's the manual recommended method: Apply oil to stud threads and to the underside of the head screw shoulder. Using the sequences above, tighten progressively to the following values: 8-10 ft-lbs 13-15 ft-lbs Loosen all screws Repeat 8-10 ft-lbs Repeat 13-15 ft-lbs Then mark each head screw at a specific point on the head, and tighten them an additional 1/4 turn (90*) However I use this method: Apply oil just like in the manual's method, and tighten in the same sequence but to the following values: (I don't like the inaccuracy of the 90* turn instead of a specific torque setting) 9 ft-lbs 14 ft-lbs 22 ft-lbs 35 ft-lbs 42 ft-lbs Repeat the 42 ft-lbs sequence a couple times. You're done. |

So the 35,42ft-lbs = the 90* turn . Thats very smart thinking ! I like it ! |

Tighten ALL fasteners on the exhaust system. Don't just tighten the header flanges and then tighten the hangers. Do them ALL at once. |

So what you're saying is get 17 of your closest friends and get them to come over (with their tools). Line them all up on their own fastener, then on the count of 3...1...2...3....tighten! |

Jeez, what the hell do you do if you only have 13 friends? |

haha, thats a lot of buddies to be standing around tightening shit!!! i seen there is a certain sequence as per the book to be tightening the headers and was wondering what it is. im fitting the exhaust on tomorrow and will tighten everything once it all is in place but since the manual download is such a pain in the ass on my computer, wondering if anyone knows the right way/torque sequence for tightening the header nuts! |

I hear horror stories of people tightening the headers and THEN tightening the couplings and hangers and wondering why their exhaust starts cracking or studs snap. |

Head studs tight, fit muffler into header, tighten rear muffler bands, tighten front muffler band, tighten muffler/header clamp. I've had mine muffler off and back on half a dozen times using this order and nothing broke yet. |
