I have only had the bike a bit over a month but twice now I will start the bike and the tach won't work speedo is fine but tach is dead I can shut it off (from the key kill switch does nothing) and it comes back. Then the next time I ride the clock and trip mileage will reset. I have checked the battery cable any suggestions? |

You broke Russ' bike! Seriously though. I dunno. I'd start at the tach, and work back from there, checking wires and connections. |

The only thing I did to "break it" was start it and ride it. I agree that I believe it's a bad connection though. |

Sounds like a short in your ignition switch body. I had the same sort of problem. Started out intermittent and then broke hard. I lost the whole instrument panel, turn signals and brake lights. Spent two days chasing wires only to find a wire in the ignition switch body had only one of the many strands still in contact. The switch is directly under the ignition switch housing, (key switch). I think a new one is about $30 "something". I removed the switch body, separated the the cover, and soldered the wire back. I guess from all the turning these bikes love to do, it fatigued the wire. |
