I am in the process of doing the pulley up grade on my 03 Firebolt. The owner manual says to use a tool to hold the front pulley. How cam I get it off with out that? Also what size is the nut? I measured it and came up with 1 7/8. Just want to check before I go and buy a new socket. Thanks for the help. Kenney |

some would suggest that you leave the belt installed and hold teh rear brake, but most are upgrading after snapping their belt. i am not 'some' a big azz pipe wrench. will do the trick too. or i jammed a deep socket between a tooth on teh pulley and the rear dog-bone mount. good luck finidng a big azz socket and breaker bar for cheap. i gots the tools if you wanna leave a deposit and pay shipping. Just replaced my pulley. It is indeed 1 7/8. i tried all manner of ideas to get that thing loose. The only thing that worked for me was to hold the pulley with a gloved hand and use an impact wrench to loosen it. worked like a charm. hold the impact wrench squarely on the nut and let it rip. It will very slowly come off. clockwise to loosen this nut. |
