The pre-08 Buells use a timing sensor that reads notches in a cup on the end of one of the camshafts. The 08-up XB's changed to a crankshaft position sensor mounted in the crankcase that reads notches on one of the flywheels for more precise timing control. I was just wondering if these two sensors/signals are "compatible". I.E.- if you put an 08-up engine in an earlier XB and hooked the output from the crankshaft sensor up to the old ECM, would it trigger the ignition correctly? I suspect not, but I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm. |
