hey everyone, a quick question. i only run 91 octane in my bike which is whats supposed to be run however i have access to 100 octane at a local gas station. i was wondering if anyone else has used higher octane in there bikes and what kinda experiences youve had doing it both positive and negative. thanks for the input

It's a waste of $$, but it sure smells good! : p

Be sure it is unleaded- many of the 100 octane fuels are leaded....you'll be frying your O2 sensor if it is leaded.

Also, mine does seem to run great on it...but that;s likely to be because it is the only non-oxygented fuel I can buy around here anymore, not because of the Octane points.

What Andy said. Do a quick search on here to read some of the past threads when others have asked the same. You won't gain anything unless your bike is pinging, and if its pinging you should fix it. 100 Octane will only lighten your wallet, and possibly damage oxygen sensors if its a lead based fuel.

I will say this however: When I run 91 octane (every day), I get a bit of a black soot on the inside of my exhaust pipe. Not excessive, but it's black. When I run a tank of 100 octane, it is tan...indicating a more complete burn. I don't remember if I got this when I was able to find non-oxygenated 91 octane.

I mix my 100 and 91 about 50/50, is that bad?
