Who has installed Speed Bleeders and can share the thread size/pitch with us? I'd like to order a couple of sets for my XBs, and I've searched through the forum and the best I've come up with is this quote from Point Doc:

I have my front one loose right now. I'll measure it when I get to the shop in the morning. I dont have a loose back brake bleeder right now. I may be able to measure the major dia. if there are some threads exposed. I have an 05 XBR. They should be the same. I'll chime in in the AM. | ||

I just used some "mighty vac" or something it was called that I got from Sears. Slip the hose over the bleeder, pump it till it creates a vacuum and its easy to bleed. Worked on a ZTL2 caliper and 1125R clutch, freaking awesome.  Best part is, it has a catch cup, so you don't even waste the fluid that gets pumped out. (Assuming you are air bleeding and not changing fluid) | ||

yeah I have a pump....would MUCH prefer to install speed bleeders. if you can get me the front size that would be great. I need to pul the rear caliper to swap it with the Brembo anyway- I can measure it up and then post the results for all to marvel at! | ||

The front on my bike is M8 x 1.25. It's an 05 12R.  | ||

THANK YOU! I wound up plowing snow all day (ggrrrr...), so I didn't get a chance to look at my rear caliper or my Brembo rear. I'll try to do to that tomorrow and post up. | ||

the front and rear on my '03 XB9S and '06 Uly are also M8 x 1.25. The brembo that I have to install for the hidden rear caliper is an M10 x 1.00. thanks again for you help- you saved me from having to tear into my front calipers! | ||

OK... What is the real advantage to these devices? How often do you really need to bleed your brakes that this is important (assuming you are not running a track bike)? For normal on road use I expect to only need to bleed the air out when I let the reservoir go dry or I am doing a fluid swap. And in practical terms, the reservoir should never go dry unless there is a leak. So you need to sell me on the idea of why these are an advantage because I truly can't see why I would want them. | ||

Greg, the first time you run into a brake that won't bleed easily or you are 10' away from the bleeder at the peddle, you'll understand their usefulness. | ||

plus, I don't need to sell you anything...its for my bike- don't buy em if you don't want em they are $7, and make those fuid swaps MUCH easier. I've put off fluid swaps because of how hard our caipers can be to bleed, no more. | ||

I just ordered speedbleeders for both of my XBs. they cost $7 each, only sold in matching pairs...so I'll have an extra one of each. Anyone that's done the Brembo hidden caliper swap want em? $15 shipped to you. The cheapest you could do this normally would be about $30 because of having to buy them in pairs. You would get (1) M8x1.25 and (1)M10x1.00. shoot me a PM if interetsed. | ||
