Clutch cable broke while riding today. I recently replace the clutch lever after a chick knocked my bike over (that's another story). The cable broke right at the lead barrel shaped peace that attaches to the lever. Any tips on replacement. I was quoted $23.00 @ HD parts counter.
Thanks in advance

Pay it and be happy. That is pretty reasonable. I paid almost 3x that for a suzuki choke lever cable so that seems very good on the $. You can re-solder the lead barrel but it won;t be as good as the new cable.

That sounds very reasonable doesn`t it?

If you don`t like it check with one of the sponsers on this site.

Fella's I am not complaining about the price of the cable. I'm asking for tips on replacing it. I haven't done this before.

Be very careful when you screw it into the primary cover. Just when you think you should give it another 1/4 turn to snug it up..snap...it will break right off & the entire cable is trash.

Remind me to tell you someday how I know this: D

Loctite is a must when working on Buells

loctite is very cool stuff, but you do NOT need to use it in this application. there is an oring on the threaded nipple which screws into the primary cover, this forms a seal to retain transmission oil, so the cable does not need to be very tight. it is fastened along its length, and also do to the curved path, it will not loosen up in use, thus loctite not required.

Buy a service manual if you have not already done so.
