Got everything hooked up with the ECMSpy and reset the TPS then the idle adjuster cable snapped as I was readjusting the idle to the right setting. The exterior of the cable was worn through in several spots so it looks like it was just a matter of time before it snapped. Couple questions: Anyone got the part number for the idle adjuster cable on an 05 XB12R? Looking at the service manual and the bike I think I can reinstall from the top end just removing the air box and appurtenances. Anyone had experience changing this part? Lastly there were zipties holding the end to the frame is this typical or did a harley tech get creative? | ||

Had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago. They just corroded and break... Anyways, your parts number : P0011.02A8 around $15 and you should be able to remove the right side scoop and replace from above through the airbox area. The biggest pain is getting the threads started. Good Luck! | ||

In the mean time, you could probably just stick a bolt that's the right size in. You just wouldn't be able to adjust the idle without taking the airbox apart... I accidentally unscrewed my idle adjuster cable when I went to do a TPS. To put it back together I just took the airbox apart and went from there. It's a pain getting the threads to start... The screw sounds like a grand idea, how often does it really need to be adjusted? As long as it doesn't vibrate out it should not need real frequent changes. |
