Just picked up a 07 xb12ss and wanted to introduce my self. It has 13k on the clock with a Jardine exhaust. I have downloaded a free version of ecm spy and have the cable. I was wondering if there is anything I should do tuning wise while running the jardine pipe and a k&n filter? I also just replaced the plugs with ngk dcpr9eix's and did the breather re route.

First thing you should consider is checking Erik Buell Racing site to see if they offer a pre-tuned ECM for just that combination. Trust me, if you have to start doing your own tuning, you may get pretty frustrated (unless you have a good sense of what's required)

While it IS a good education, you'll rapidly find that you're going to spend MUCH MORE than $250 (your time, shop time, dyno or data logging and just learning the system.

All that being said, there's nothing like thoroughly understanding how your machine actually WORKS and it's hard to put a dollar value on that kind of educaiton.

Have a look: http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product96.html

If you don't plan on constantly changing cams, valves, fuels, compression ratios... then you'd be hard pressed to do much better than the module that is a "plug and play"

Shoot them a note - but realize with Daytona right now, it might be a week or so before you hear back.

I should add that with ECMSpy, you may well find somebody who has a map they would be willing to email you... BUT you MUST still do a couple pulls on the dyno yourself - unless you KNOW the person who did the re-programming and KNOW THE SOURCE of the base map that they used (making sure none of the safety limits were $&^#$ with)

Defiantly dont plan on changing cams, head etc in the near future although I am the type of guy that likes to learn the ins and outs of what I own. I must say I am very impressed with the tuning capabilities of the ECM vs other brands that require a external chip to override ECM functions. I have been reading the free manuals that I found on buellxb and it does seem a little daunting at first but seems with a little common sense that tuning your own machine shouldn't be impossible. It is very useful tool even if you only use it for TPS resets and checking static timing.
