I am thinking about buying a Ulysses XT. It's a 2008 with 18,000 miles and the dealer is asking for $6500. I'm wondering what I should offer to pay for this bike, or is $6500 already fair? It looks to be in great condition; bags and all. I'm just concerned that it already has 18,000 miles on it. I also want to sell my red w/gold rims 2004xb12s 7000 miles. It's all stock except for some accessories like frame pucks, fork/swing arm sliders, select seat, tail bag and tank bag. How much could I sell it for privately? Thank you. Not the best price (I got a 2007 with side bags with 10k for $5000), but not insane either given it is from a dealer. That makes the experience really easy for you (no hunting notaries, no flaky sellers, somebody with a reputation to protect and the means to make problems right). If they did all the services by the book, replaced tires, and sorted out some wear and tear, they could easily be into the bike for $500 to $1000. So you can get a better deal, but it will take time and energy and could carry more risk. |

(Oh, and for the record, that $5000 for a 2007 with 10k miles was probably very near the absolute bottom of the market. I flew across the country to get it, it was still winter, it needed new tires, and it was at the peak of the fear uncertainty and doubt of "buell is shut down". You might be able to find that price again, but it will take a lot of time and hunting...) So don't think that $5000 is average retail, it's near absolute bottom. I don't know what a really fair deal is, but I can tell you owning a bike much like it, that if I had paid $6000 for one like that I would still have been absolutely thrilled at the amount of bike I am getting for my money. |

Reepicheap, You bought a 2007 XT? Really? Probably you have an X, not an XT, right? Earwig, offer $5500 and go from there. Really good deal at $6000, still at least a good deal at $6500. I paid $6000 for a 2009 XT with 2400 miles, but that took a LOT of searching. And a winter flight as well. FUN ride home, though! Buying from a dealer is good. What Reepicheap said. Oh, and the 2008 has a bunch of upgrades from the 2007. That is why I got the 2009 instead of another older X model, BTW. I have a 2006 X and there is a noticeable difference from the 2006 to the 2009. |

My only concern on this bike is that it has 19,000 miles... not 1900. That seems like a lot of miles for a bike that is only 3 years old. |

Nittanyxt, how long do you plan on keeping your bike? Just curious. I haven't done much research to see if they start having problems after so many miles etc. Thanks again. |

It's not going anywhere! Hope to do another 8 to 12 K this year. There are plenty of Uly owners with more than double that amount of miles on 06s and 07s. |

There are some here that have done that in 3 months, let alone 3 years. 19,000 miles? It is still a baby! |
