Any ideas on where to mount a small nautilus air horn on an XB? |

Behind the flyscreen is the most popular location. |

One heads up though: You have to orient the thing in one specific direction "This end up" or they die fast for some reason. This is not a personal experience thing, just something I read on here. |

There isn't much room under the flyscreen any more. I have HID starters under the screen now. |

If you do an airbox delete you can mount it next to your filter. |

You can fit it if you separate the horn and compressor. I've got hi and low beam ballasts and the horn compressor and relays (and way too much wiring) for everything in my flyscreen. If you do a cleaner install than me you should have no problem. Just ran a house down to the horn which is mounted behind the oil cooler. |

Also that way the compressor is mounted "upright", the way it's supposed to be. |

Irish - Can you post a pic of the setup behind your flyscreen? |

I saw this on a XB Lightning at VIR last year.
Thought it was unique, but don't know if I would actually do the same... 1313 |

I would, but I post on this site from my phone (which the pictures are on) and I'm one of those idiots that doesn't know how to post pictures. I could send them to someone I suppose, maybe they could post them? |

1313, that's actually pretty cool! I would've considered that if I hadn't already cut mine all up. Didn't think of that. |

I have been interested in the Nautilus, but I keep reading about them failing. Is it just a case of mounting them vertically? |

Yeah, it says in it's instructions to mount it a certain way. Otherwise my guess is it starves the motor of lubrication? And then poof! |

I mounted mine "the wrong way" and it is still working fine. My personal take is that someone may be a little heavy on the horn. |

I saw an AdvRider post where a few people were complaining about their Nautalis's failing. After a few days, there were still the same 3 people complaining about falures, and about 100 people saying they had no problems. |

Do those just clip on to the fork? I can't really tell from the picture. |

I'm in North Central Illinois where people don't pay attention. Multiple times at one intersection in particular as I make a left turn from a two lane with no stop sign onto a road with a stop sign, a car on my left making a left turn will start pulling out as I am turning. By removing the apex of my corner I have to stand the bike up and brake hard to make the turn. The air horn wakes up the slacker. |

yea, they just clip on. you can put a little double stick tape on the inside and they never move. |
