On my front tire there is a hair line crack the goes the circumference of the tire on both sides. I contacted Pirelli about it and this is what said.

Hello

It is not a crack it is as we mentioned below. It is the joining of the 2 rubber compounds.

Is it really a crack where two pieces have separated or just the lines? Could be from a tire machine if it is really cracked.

It is cracked enough for my fingernail to catch in it. The tire has been like that for a couple months and the crack was not there when I put the rim back on the bike after the tire change out.

I will be home from offshore Tuesday and will get a better picture. My fiance' took that one with her iphone.

You need to get a picture with a fingernail or something sticking into the crack. If you bought it at a dealer and had them install it, then they should be able to help you get a replacement or at least prorated discount. If not there is always a different brand.

The tire came from motorcycle-superstore.com in January '10. I will most likely go with 2CT or Q2 tires next.

The corsa III was discontinued and you probably got an older stock of tire

I have had no problems with my corsa III they did very good on the track

im with Bueller83, isnt there a manufactured date on the tire or a way to check the date of manufacture? that'd be handy information to have if you make a case with the .com. i like the Dunlops on my Buell but i think most others on this site would advise against them

I won't be home from work until Tuesday. I'll get a better pic and some info off the tire to post.

I was thinking about going with the Michelin Pilot Road 2CT tires. They are dual compound and have a longer tread life than most if not all dual compound tires.

My Pilot Powers are nice tires so those road 2ct should be decent. I'll probably go with a 2ct next tire change since they should last longer.

I have seen that before but with no cracks ,it looks like the two compounds are not good glued together!?
