dropped bike, need to either bend back or buy new front brake lever, where is a good place to buy them? for cheap, I'm not sure I trust some of the ones on ebay from hong kong or china, even though I do like the gold color. . . |

As odd as this sounds...try using a rubber hammer on a cement floor to straiten it out. I've straitened other aluminum crank arms for bicycles, so it should work on a Buell brake lever. Don't use a vise. Don't use a ball peen hammer. It will break for sure. After all, it's already bent...could it get any worse? |

I have some china ebay ones, just the plain replacement ones. They work fine, the stock ones are probably the same thing, they are just cheap cast, I'm surprised it bent and didn't break. Mine just snapped off when I dropped it. |

I've never had any luck bending a lever back. Had to ride many times with a stub after trying. |

On my dirt bikes, I have heated them up with a propane torch in a vise, and bent them back to roughly the right position. They don't look great, as it leaves little vise prints on them, but for a KLR-250, they fit right in. Never had to try it on a Buell. I'd probably be less casual about the safety side of things on a street bike, and would probably just replace the lever, maybe stashing the old one on the bike somewhere for a rainy day. |

Last time I bent a lever, it snapped trying to bend it back...but try it anyway. |

Try heating the lever when bending it back. |

I drill a hole near the end of mine so that if it is going to break it will do it there and I can still ride it. I've seen posts here where certain year/models of Yamaha and Suzuki levers are the same and likely cheaper. You might give that a shot. Cast aluminum doesn't like to bend. |

I hate to bring up a dead thread, but I've just come in need of a brake handle and was wondering if anyone had one. Thanks, Brett |
