My poor bike may need to spend some nights outside. Wondering what bike cover you guys use or suggest? | ||

Before I bought a house with a garage I used the Buell Fortress cover. Its not water proof but it gets the job done. | ||

I used the Fortress cover also. As Terrys1980 said, it isn't water proof, but it will keep the bike clean and out of the sun. I think is is more meant for dust protection. One thing to think about, with any cover, is the direction you park the bike. I always tried to make sure the bike was facing the wind or at least the kick stand was on the opposite side of the wind. The cover acts like a sail and you don't want your bike blown over. I used to live in an apartment and parked outside. One windy night, my neighbors GSXR was blown over. The Buell stayed upright, because of the way I parked it. | ||

Also keep in mind that your headers are exposed- if you install a cover right after you shut the engine down, you will melt or burn the cover on your headers. | ||

Well, if you go by the size chart a medium may be an OK fit, but I had an used Large size from another bike that in my opinion is better because you can wrap it all the way down and there is no way snow or water will get in. Like a said, the fit of the large is not super tight but is not too loose that it would fly away in a windy day. | ||

By the way . . . I hadn't read the above before posting. For $39 . . and using it for a short duration . . I'd bet that Tourmaster above would suit your needs just fine . . that's cheap for a cover. The one I got was about $100 from White Horse . . . if I were buying another top of the line, I'd go with BMW again (Message edited by court on February 14, 2011) | ||

the oxford rainex cover is what I have and that thing is great. the only down fall is you cannot put it on with the bike hot or your headers will melt it. That cycleshell is pretty cool! I guess I would probably order the largest one for my XT. I could probably live in it too after my wife kicks me out for spending that much money on a bike cover. Actually though, if I did not have a garage to store my bike in, I would probably invest in one of those. The nice thing about them is the fact that the cover does not contact the bike and scuff it up. I learned that the hard way once with a car that I stored outside over winter. | ||

I use a horse blanket on some bikes. Works great. Waterproof and insulated. | ||

I have 2 Cycleshells. Probably the best darn cover you could get for your bike. I still have them even though I have a garage now just because you never know when you might need them. |
