Hi, long time rider first time buell owner. I just bought a stock 07 xb12r w/ 2k miles, helmet and tender for 4,000$!! Feels like I stole it. Any hints or tricks would be helpful, thanks |

Check your tire pressures. Add gasoline Ride it! Not even broken in! You'll notice it improve as you cross over about 12,000 or so. Most here would suggest that you then change over to synthetic oil. Personally, I just run straight dino-juice. It's not like it's sandpaper or poison or something |

Set the suspension up for your weight w/gear. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/210023.html That link is referencing an '03 XB, but it shouldn't be much, if any, difference for an '07. If you have a owners book the settings and instructions are in there. The "Aggressive Settings" are a great place to start for track tuning and I personally like them on the street. |

Oil changes. I do mine with 15-40 diesel every 2k miles. Primary every other oil change. Costs $10 per change. Primary juice is $6 for the quart. I bought my R with around 5k on the clock, and it runs better than when I bought it. I now have 18.5k, and it's stronger than ever.I may go full syn in the primary this summer, but stickin to my dino juice in the crank. .............and a crankcase breather mod! |

I'd wait till you knew what exhaust you wanted before you messed with the ECM. Keep an eye on the BadWeB classifieds and eBay, they're a lot of people getting rid of surplus bike parts, exhausts included. You could use ECMSpy to tune your bike for free (+ the cost of a cable) But if you don't want to deal with the hassle you can sling a few bucks Erik's way and buy an ECM from Erik Buell Racing. I'd still recommend getting a cable and a copy of ECMSpy if only to do periodic TPS resets. For more info on ECMSpy just use the Search. |
