Do all xb's have a fan that turns on when you kill the motor? My 9sx does, but my 12r that I just bought doesn't. I haven't tore it down yet to look, was hoping someone on here could give me some idea where to start. |

One fan. If the head sensor tells the ECM the engine is hot...yea, it'll run for a few more seconds after the key is switched off. Unless it runs all the time, or runs for 10 minutes after shut down...I wouldn't worry about it. Just put a right side scoop on the 9. Mike |

If your new bike has the latest flash the fan program is different. |

I doubt it has the latest flash but how do I find out? |

The fan will turn on around 15 mph and off at around 10 or so. It runs the whole time you are going. Even in the summer my fan hardly ever comes on when I shut the bike off. |

I bought a 2009 XB9SX from Texas on ebay. Had it shipped to Seattle. The fan ran every time I ran around the block. Got the latest flash and now it barely runs at all. This is something you can have the local HD dealer do/check. Mine is still under warranty, so they did for free.. I told them I was having Rideablity issues & it was a safety concern for me. |

my 03's fan only runs if I was in a lot crappy traffic before I got to my destination or if it is really hot out side. But if it is cold out side and I stay in the wind it does not come on. I think my 2010 short scoop helps with that some. |
