I just traded my black wheels for a set of the silver with the polished lip. I was thinking I would paint the center part black but now I am having some doubts. I'm thinking I will just leave them as is.... what do ya'll think? since that photo was taken I have also added the hepco racks. I will paint the inserts silver... just a FYI

unless you want to swap them for a silver set that has some discoloring on the spokes then paint them... |

Are you sure you made a good trade ? It sounds like you traded black wheels for wheels you now want to paint black. |

i was thinking the same thing as skinstains.....if you do pain them black i'll trade you my silver rims (with no polished lip) then you could possibly paint the lips silver and the inside black! j/k |

Ian, did you change the wheels on your firebolt or are they supposed to be the factory silver still? because they only made one style silver... and all the silver ones came with a polished lip. unless yours have been painted they would have that lip. |

My two 039R's came with bare metal silver wheels without a polished lip... |

My bad yo, I just found a picture of one of my 03's ad the lip is indeed polished. I guess the polished shine didn't last very long and I forgot about it. |

I'll say no just because that's exactly what I am doing to my wheels, and I don't want to share a look only I'm having mine powder coated instead of painted. I think it will look great, if you do it before me it'll give me a good idea of how it looks before I pay for it though |

Even tho I built that bike, I'd say no....I don't like how it breaks up the look of the rim. I think that a solid color rim looks much "beefier", and I prefer that very much to the color center, polished lip look. |

I'm thinking... with the bags and such on it... It may be pointless to paint them. |

I got crap for mileage out of my Conti Road Attacks- probably about 4500. |

yes, they are marketed as a sport touring tire. I got almost triple the mileage on my Pilot Roads (and that was the single compound ones!) for basically the same price. I like the feel of the PRs much better as well. all of this is on my Uly, although I have run the PRs on my XB9S and X1 with similar great results. |

Do you think that maybe bein a lighter bike that it would help with the mileage of the conti's. Everything I've heard about the Continentals has related them to the pr2's. What do u think about the new pirelli angel st's. |

Is there a forum where we talk about tires and mileage and performance of them At all? |

Possibly, but they market them for the BMWs which is a heavier bike, and the Uly does not weigh that much more than the XB9S (I do VERY few miles with it loaded up or with a passenger since my wife rides the 9). I think that Conti wants to compete with the PR (notice, not the PR2, which is a dual compound tire and the Conti is not), but IMO not even close. I've not tried the Angels, and I have not heard any real longterm reports yet either. There have been many tire threads, I would start one in the XBoard with a title of "high mileage tire reports" or something to that effect- that would make it a bit different than previous threads, and I think that there are enough newer tires out there right now that it warrants a new thread. Sorry for the thread jack Mark (Message edited by andymnelson on January 25, 2011) |

I just made a new thread called tire preference. I'm just tryin to gather info for my next set of tires because I need to find somethin that has great life with good performance. I only got 4,000 miles outta my diablo's and went through two sets last summer. That was a heavy season however I want something that's gonna last that won't break the bank. |

no worries... about the hi-jack I'm a cheap tire wh0re. I have my own tire changer so the amount of frequency that I change tires doesn't matter to me. I got the Angels from E.B.R. at Homecoming last year for a 100 Bucks. piled them on top of the Uly and was good to go. I ran a set of the Conti Motions on the Uly last year. I picked them up on sale for $220 for 2 rears and 1 front. So far I am happy with the Mileage I have gotten from the Conti's. I've only toated 1 rear. I'm in a pretty good position compared to most. I have a spare set of wheels with rubber already mounted up and ready to go... and I've also been able to help a fellow Bueller out when his bearings took a crap on him because I had the spare sitting at the house.... but then he messed up my rear to front tire ratio by buying me a new tire to replace the one he put 1000 miles on.... THANKS KEN! |
