Has anyone replaced their battery with a Yuasa? Their website says the YTX14AH-BS is a direct high performance replacement. My 2006 Uly is going to need a new battery this Spring and I've had very good luck with Yuasa batteries in previous non-Buell bikes (Beemer, Yamaha, Honda). People have used them, and they are generally regarded as high quality replacements. However, unless you're nowhere near a dealer or can get the Yuasa significantly cheaper, the stock battery works really well. Both of my XB's managed to last about 6 years on the stocker. I always plug it into a Battery Tender as a matter of habit. Never had any charging issues (except for the non-related, but oft-dreaded 77 connector), but this helps for times when I'm away from the bike for a few weeks during winter, vacation, work travel, etc. |

I am not sure but I really think any battery will work as long as it is 12volt. Now by "work" I mean it will function and start your bike. My XB has a cradle that positions the battery almost on its side. If you don't buy a factory sealed unit you may have acid all over your bike. You get what you pay for. Best of luck. |

NOT impressed by Yuasa batteries in my other bikes. HD AGM batteries are among the best out there. Pay a little more, worry a lot less |

Clang, I've had that battery in my Ss for about a month... and I'll be switching to a HD AGM this weekend. Unlike Sloppy, I've had very good luck with Yuasa in other bikes. On the XB however, the terminals were just enough off from matching up with the cables - and they don't have threaded terminals so you are working with a small square nut - that I wasn't maintaining good contact while riding. I check my terminals for tightness frequently too, but this was enough to start throwing fault codes. Bottom line is that it will work; think it has even more CCA than stock, but I'm going back to the HD battery because of the fit. Frankly I think they are good batteries anyway; I only went with the Yuasa because I can get them at dealer price. |

I have had variable luck with Yuasa, sometimes great, sometimes awful. I've had good luck with Yuasa AGM and VRLA batteries, the flooded type (not for your Buell) not so much. The original battery went for three years, the replacement has been in there almost three years and is still going strong- both OEM HD batteries. For what it worth... |

I've had that same battery in my Uly since June'06. The only problem is the positive battery cable termination has to be bent to fit on the Yuasa battery. To the battery's credit, I drilled a hole in one side, near the bottom (don't ask.) It popped and there was that stink of acid. But to my surprise no liquid came out of the battery. I plugged the hole with JB-Weld and here we are 2 years later (touch wood) it's still working. Oh yea, all it cost was $43... Here's the whole story if interested. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/207872.html |

Thanks for the feedback gents. I know you can't go wrong with OEM, and it looks like there have been some issues using aftermarket. |

A lot of these cheaper aftermarket batteries do not have enough cranking power for the buell engines! I have one from http://www.odysseybatteries.com/ |

I had looked at Odyssey because they work great in my jet ski, but couldn't figure out which one would be the correct one. Can you tell me which one you used ? |

I use a PC545 from odyssey but it is not the same size ,so i had to make the battery tray wider, its not a big hassle but you know how much space the xb,s have there!? So you also can use a battery from http://svrbatteries.com/battery_page.php?bid=1 its the same size and cold cranking amps as the hd battery |

I wound up purchasing a Shorai battery. It's tiny compared to the original and much lighter - had to use a lot of the included foam to make it fit. So far so good, we'll see if they really last longer. |
