I thought I read somewhere that you can get the oil filter for the XB from Walmart? Is this true. Would they sell it at NAPA or Checkers? If so what is the part number. Tatsu

It is true. Wal-Mart Super Tech ST4967. I have used it for the last 2 oil changes and have noticed a 2mpg increase in gas mileage. Attributed to the oil filter? Go figure. |

Bosch filters from Autozone are quality filters that are all black and look nice as well. I think they use a semi-synthetic filter media. |

I seen 2 napa filters explode at the track, one resulted in a guy going to the hospital and a bike being totalled. Not to mention, oil being spilled all over the track going into the carousel at Texas World Speedway. Since I observed that incident, I have never used napa filters. |

No rush for now, I just went to the HD dealer to get a Buell filter and oil. I just got the used 9R with 5000 miles and the oil is a little dirty so it needs changing ASAP. I do want to get the part #'s though. They stopped carrying Mobil1 so I had to get HD synth. Even buying oil and a filter at an HD dealer sucks, the guy was a bonehead. They tried to talk me into a deal where for $40 you join the club and get points for what you spend. I said I'm not planning on spending much there hopefully, because this should be a reliable bike right? He laughed and said, "It's a harley isn't it? it's just a sportster so you're gonna need lots of service." So that's great that the dealers actually laugh about how much harleys suck for maintenance. I'll be getting Mobil1 elsewhere and hopefully filters too. And I'll be getting tires installed at a closer, nicer dealer that does Polaris, Suzuki, etc. |

Cold... I have a Cyclone, so I use the FL1A crossover (goes on a mustang GT 5 litre). Don't know the bosch part number. Pup.. When in July? I will be out of town a lot that month, but the dates might line up. Lots of good riding out on the west side. |

Spyder, You are correct, Fram and Supertech (Walmart) are the same pt # and same filter for that matter. Can't remember who, but someone just posted about cutting them open with a hacksaw. Same same... |
