I have to go TDY in the beginning of the year, and was thinking about getting a front stand for the bike. I have a Pit-Bull rear stand and was thinking about getting a front stand for it as well. Anyone have/use stands? Any preferences on companies? I was thinking about pit-bull with the converter to lift from the steering neck. They are superiorly built and come with the reputation of quality. | ||

I've got a T-Rex set with the neck lift option. Works very well. If the Pit Bull is in your budget you won't be unhappy with that though. I use mine pretty much for when I'm doing maintenance. If I was doing track days the Pit Bull durability might be worth while. So far I'm satisfied with the cheaper T-Rex though. | ||

You MUST use the steering lift - not lift from the fork-ends! The fork end castings are almost 1/4 inch different and it'll tip the bike sideways when you lift that way! | ||

You could make an adapter for a regular rear stand that would lift the front from the axle, if it is just for storage this would be fine and probably more stable than a regular front stem stand. Grab a cheapo from Harbor Freight and some bolts that are close to the correct size. You could even use threaded rod and run it all the way through the front axle and the stand and put washers and nuts on each end to keep it from coming apart. | ||

I have the Pit Bull front stand for my 2009 XB12Scg. I have to remove the front fender because the suspension is so low, but the stand works great.    -Nick- | ||

Nick,, You have to remove the fender only because your suspension is so low to begin with correct? You don't think that I would have to do the same on a Firebolt do you? ~with the suspension at factory levels.... Unfortunately, this way seems to be the only way I can use a stand... I have axle sliders that I don't want to remove every time I want to put it up in stands; so i cant use the axle trick that was mentioned. And like what was mentioned above and known by all, is the fork lengths are different, we cant just use a normal fork lift stand. This leaves me to only using the steering neck lift. Thanks all | ||

If you have sliders, you could use a regular rear stand with an adapter that grabs the sliders. Some people have put regular rear wheel stand spools on the front end and use a stand that accepts the spools (again Harbor Freight was used). | ||

Valiant duke, You're correct. The "normal" suspension settings will allow you to clear the front fender without any issues. The Scg is very low compared to a firebolt. I hope that helps. -Nick- | ||

its still a snug fit with standard height suspension too but not as bad as the Scg I bought a pit bull when my bike was still low, now with it standing on 07 bolt suspension I still brush my fender a bit, but a clean microfiber cloth between the two is enough to keep from scratching anything. | ||

I use a pitbull for my front stand on my bolt. plenty of room to put it in without worrying about hitting the fender. And nothing better then the pitbull! | ||

for some reason a lightning has a #2 pin and a bolt a #7 pin when you order, I think the 7 is correct because my pin will not go in straight like it should(nickh has the same issue I see). I thought the issue was because my bike was a low model at the time, I just ordered a 7 to see how it seats, it may clear up the rubbing the fender issue too. | ||

I have T-Rex stands and the rear is great but there is an issue with the front. The guy that sells them has two different styles that work on our bikes. Mine works great but I have to remove the front fender. Robert from Xblights.com has the other style (much more like a Pit Bull) and he does not have to change a thing. I have spoke to the guy that runs T-Rex because I wanted to get the other top piece (apparently the bottom portion of the lift is the same) and he was willing to help if I could get pic of the correct model. Alcohol impeded my progress and I never did. | ||

Delta, I had my pin backwards in my picture. Once I turned the pin around 180 degrees, everything fit perfect. Nick | ||

I had no idea there was a front and back to it(it looks awfully straight), I just inserted it in the most logical looking manner. thanks Nickh I'll swap the pin around before I try the #7 | ||
