I've been looking into bags for the R. Anyone using the bags by Buell or are there better one available. The Buell bags on the Co. website are pricey but, a friend has a small tail bag that carries the pegasus and it looks well made. He said it was $100. He keeps a small half helmet in it, but that is about as large an item as it will carry. |

I have the tank bag and love it! The tailbag is pretty small but would be handy to have as well. The saddlebags are very small but if you add it up with the other bags you could carry quite a bit of stuff with you. I have tank bags in stock, would have to order the other ones for you. I just sold my last set of saddlebags last week. Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com |

I have the tank bag. It has decent capacity and doesn't cover the gas cap. The quick-release clips are very handy. It is pricey (for me) but I went ahead and got it because of the custom fit for the XB's. One thing I don't like about it is the mounting system gets loose so the bag can slide side to side if it's full. Someone posted a solution for this using velcro on the rear strap. I am going to try that to see if it helps. The only other thing that I don't like is the clear map pocket doesn't seal. If it sealed like ziplok bags that would be nice. Mike. |

I am about to go pickup my 9R this weekend, and besides riding it as much as possible, the first thing I want to do is figure out how to get some sort of secure luggage. I asked in an old thread a while back and nobody replied, but has anyone put hard luggage on one of these bikes like Givi bags? I want at least a top trunk or even better, side bags. I'm thinking I'll have to custom fab some mounting brackets and use the universal Givi hardware. Since all the Buells use the same frame, you'd think someone would make something for them soon! I just don't want it to look totally stupid when the bags aren't on there. www.giviusa.com Otherwise someone pointed me to this option, but it looks kinda cheesy. www.fastbag.com Is anyone else even interested in hard bags? I already have a set of soft saddle bags from my last bike that will hopefully fit, but I have a need for secure storage when away from the bike such as Givi provides. |

Luggage Locker I got one for the tail. It is smaller than other luggage lockers because it is custom fit to the tiny rear seat we have, but it still swallows alot of stuff. I have the tank bag too, and I like it alot. I concur with most of XB9er's comments. I'm looking at Oxford Sports saddle bags for my trip this fall. I hear that they work okay. |

I got Daves's last pair of saddlebags (wahoo!) He's right, they are small. But they appear to be extremely well-made, double-stitched and reinforced seams, and look/fit/mount great on the bike! With the tank bag, there is enough room to pack sparingly for my ten-day trip, but the emphasis here is on SPORTtouring for my bike(XB12R). If you pack lightly they are probably hard to beat. |

KCfirebolt: Thanks for the info on LL, I hadn't heard of that one. They list the Sport Zip-Pak as fitting the XB9R, I assume that's what you're talking about. How secure is it? Looks like it's still a nylon bag with zippers! My goal is to carry rock climbing gear with me an hour or more from home, then park the bike and lock up my leather jacket and helmet while I'm out climbing. I assume the bike has a helmet lock on the side (won't know til I pick it up tomorrow). I'll be away from the bike for 3-6 hours. I don't want to return and find my Vanson gone! Do you have any pics of your LL installed? I'm hoping to combing these two activities because most of the climbing spots also happen to be where the nice winding roads are! http://www.luggagelocker.com/sport.html |

Coldwtherrider, I don't have a pic yet. I'd be a little concerned about fitting a Vanson Jacket into that Luggage Locker. I'm not sure it would fit. The Luggage Locker is quite large, but they have to custom fit the bag to the passenger Pillion, and ours is so small that it comes out a least a 1/3 smaller than the luggage locker normally does. I'll go home tonight and see if I can fit my leather jacket in there. Does your Vanson have armor? I tried to get the Zip Pak but they don't make it for the XB9R. Yest the website says that they do, but they didn't when I bought mine this December. http://www.luggagelocker.com/seatsak.html Again, I have a couple of friends who have Zip packs and Seat saks for other brands of bikes and the bag is wonderful and large. It's a good product. We just suffer because of the small pillion. |

I've got soft armor in the Vanson, so it's bulkier but bendable. I sometimes take it out for really hot summer days so it could be armorless. I figure if I could at least fit the jacket, I can use my soft saddle bags for carrying stuff. They wouldn't be secure but I'd take that gear with me when I go. |

You can use a cable lock threaded through the jacket sleeves and the bike if it won't fit in the luggage. Mike. |

I've locked my helmet to my bike a couple of times... I use the right passenger peg and a longer shank master lock, run the lock thru the helmet rings and thru the slot in the peg, lock it and hang the helmet on the peg... Oh, and I just carry the lock on a belt loop... Kevin |

I have the Buell saddle bags. I like them.. though they are a little small, they get the job done for my commute to work, though I wouldn't want to depend on them if I was touring. I get compliments on them all the time. |
