I just ordered a boat load of carbon fiber parts for the bolt. Has anyone ever worked with them before. Is there anything i need to look at for? Should i watch screwing the parts in the frame so they don't break? Any help would be great. (Message edited by Firebolt Man09 on November 15, 2010) |

i just ordered all the body work for my bolt as well. granted, it'll be about three months before i can put it on, but hey, it's all good. i would have to imagine that you should be careful in torquing the shouldered bolts. you should really use the plastic washers under the bolt heads so it doesn't rub into the epoxy used to make the part. that could possibly weaken, and even twist the fibers under the head of the bolt. i'm sure there are more knowledgeable people on this subject, but it's just my two cents worth. make sure you post pictures man!! |

All of the above, only I doubt seriously you'll break anything. Unless of course you bought the cheap stuff. |

Tractor supply is your friend and Ace hardware .They have black and clear plastic washers to help keep it all clean and ect. I got a bag full last trip for about 6 bucks. now if I'll just use them on the new paint. they are slightly larger than the bolts. which is exactly what I want. I think mine were .09 cents each. It may have been Ace hardware though. I use both places for nuts and bolts. so it was one of the two. mike |

I bought my carbon fiber parts from americansportbike.com They were easy to install, I still haven't put on the rear fender or tire huger, you need to take the rear wheel off and that takes a long time, so when I'm changing the tire next it will be replaced. My tip would be to evenly tighten the bolts when installing it. I got some pictures of how it looks like when installed: http://www.bikepics.com/members/luv2spd/03xb9r/ |

Not to be too much of a wet blanket, but what are the weights of CF vs. stock? If your reason is coolness, I do support that 101%!! |

The tailsection is the only worry I reckon. If you have full CF it should be easy. If you have fibreglass with CF matt its pretty rigid and you have to do it slowly. |

The local HD/Buell dealer here, had some CF body parts sitting on the shelf for years. (walked in at the right time, offered them $400 for the lot #) # Buell Original CF front Fender. # Buell Original CF Belly pan. # Buell Original front screen (XBs) American Sport Bike - CIA CF Airbox. American Sport Bike - Air Scoop. Have just ordered a Corbin Seat. D&D Exhaust, sounds mean... Will post pic's soon. Cheers. |
