Theres a 2008(edit) engine for sale here but i have a 05 model. Ive been waiting for an engine for ages but they are rare. I was wondering what i would need to fit this engine into my bike.ECM? oil lines? (Message edited by paul_in_japan on November 10, 2010) |

Everything bolts right up. The oil line connections didn't change on the motor until 2008 and neither did the ECM. The big differences on the '07 motor are the bronze oil pump drive gear and helical trans gears. |

Sorry, I made a mistake. The add says 07 but its the newer type engine with the newer shape timing cover. The VIN confirms its a 08. So same question but 08. What do I need to make this work? |

It has a different fuel injection setup. You will have to change the whole wiring harness. |

Short answer... Lots of changes needed. Harness and ECM at the least, not sure about oil lines or swing arm or cooler, etc. The good thing is they beefed up the crankshaft and bearings so it might be worth the work if the price is cheap enough. |

Way to much to list in one post, but other than the motor, you need a new wiring harness, ECM, oil lines, throttle body, throttle cables, and a billion other minor things. Yep, its that different! |

OR...if you still have the 05 injector, throttle body, ECM. Adapt the above to the new engine. Mike |

One uses crank position for ignition timing, the other uses cam position. |

Hmmmmmm lots of parts by the looks of things. The guy selling the engine is also parting out the rest of it so I could potentially get them too but it might get too expensive. so far it looks like engine wiring harness ecm intake assembly oil lines throttle cables and perhaps, swing arm and oil cooler |

Im in Yamanashi Ken just outside Tokyo. My Buell has been in the shed in pieces for 6 months. Ive been waiting for an engine to pop up on Yahoo Auctions but none have. Im going to try replacing the rocker arms and shafts and see if that fixes it. You should check out gaijinriders.com. Lots of like-minded good riding folks on there. I hope the leg heals in time for Spring twisy rides in the mountains. |

Depending on the price you might want to contact the seller and see about grabbing as much as possible to make the conversion. Selling lots of stuff to one person is a lot easier than selling stuff to lots of people, the price should reflect this. |
