Well, Since I have been stationed here in Japan. I have been riding alot here in the mountains. Its awesome. About a month ago I had a japanese guy turn right in front of me I was going about 35 and T-Boned his van. After Hospital stay, broken patella(think its spelled that way) torn miniscus, and 25 stitches in my knee I am finaly able to walk now. Just waiting on the insurance to pay up and I am going to fix my XB. Here are some pictures. P.S Wear your gear!. Usually I ride full gear, but this day I was only "going to get gas" about 5k from my house. I was wearing everything except for my riding pants. Yah jeans are garbage. |

Ha, looks like a Joker smiley. Rest well, keep up your stretches, rest your leg at a 135° angle not a 90 or straight. Glad it's not any worse. |

My first freeway hit was by a similar driver..! All he could say was, "I didn't see...I didn't see" ! He didn't freaking see me....I had a front tire donut (tire mark) on the fairing of my bike fer Christ sakes. And it was full daylight... I was in the #1 lane (NOT splitting), he was in the #2 lane. Just turned into me..! I wanted to hit him really....bad. With pants leg torn open, just a banged knee, I told him to just get the f**k out of here before I end up going to jail for beating the crap out of you...he left...! I faired better than you did though. Here's to fast healing. Mike |

That's a gnarly photo, I hope your knee heals quickly! Fixing up the bike is good rehab and helps pass the time waiting to ride again. Good recommendation on the gear! Inattentive drivers and drivers with poor judgment suck, it can happen anywhere, anytime. I've been there too. |

thanks guys for you kind words. I am getting better and looking forward to rebuilding the bike. It is a good way to pass by the time and recover. I am glad I got a good 3 years of riding in, while I was in Japan. This place awesome! Funny story, I spend the night in the hospital, 20 something stitches in my knee, cracked patella, and torn maniscus. Sprained ACL and the japanese hospital gives me Iburophen when I am discharged to alleviate the pain. P.S. I tried the rub dirt on it. But that hurt like hell when the doc had to clean it out..haha..live and learn i guess. thanks again |

The nice thing about Japan is, at least it used to be this way, that driver will lose his license forever. |

Hey Sgt. Here is s link for a guy on yahoo auction Japan who is parting out a complete 2008 XB12R. From the looks of things the bike was in good condition before being dismantled. Might be a good chance to pick up some replacement parts. Youll have to sort through the 20 or so pages, http://storeuser16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/user/sp ongebob0817?alocale=0jp&mode=1&u=%3bspongebob0817 |

I had a similar thing happen out the back gate of Camp Zama on the way to SHA. Guy ran a stop sign and pulled out right in front of me. Fortunately, I came out of a it a little better. Hope you heal up quickly. |
