The Mrs' 9r dumps a bunch of heat out the right side under the seat, burned her leg. Has anyone fabricated a deflector the direct it away from the rider's legs, shroud under the seat, anything?
Thanks,
LJM

I burnt a hole in my pants on the header from the wind blowing them right onto the pipe. It was the rear pipe and right under the frame where my pants touched. I bought the header heat shield for the uly from the harley dealer and no problems since. I know you mentioned heat from under the seat though. Spec Ops makes heat barriers that you can put under the seat.

Thanks, guys,
Think I will try a little of everything.
Wrapped the header previously, and am writing to Special OPS to get the underseat heat barrier. If she is still uncomfortable, will spread the wrap and add the uly heat shield too.

I guess if that doesn't work, will sew a football thigh pad into her riding pants.

I can't tell you how to fix the issue but I am having the same problem with my 09 12R. My right leg gets so hot that I about want to stop and let everything cool off. My 059SX never got this hot so I am wondering if the ECM flash that I have read about for the 09 will help this issue? Any thoughts from anyone on this?

I wrapped my header and now it's fine. I can't image a situation where the header wrap didn't fix it, even brief contact will no longer leave a 3rd degree burn and I no longer fear that they will burn a hole in my textile gear.

If header wrap didn't work, then it might be the quality of the wrap, I used DEI wrap and need to pull it off for the better "titanium" wrap they sent to me (for cosmetic reasons).

The newer "Titanium" wrap lasts longer also.

I gave both my 1125 and my 12s a double layer wrap.
Though the 12s's double is only near the ignition, oil filter and lines.

If you scroll partway down the page there are pre cut heat barriers. Al from American Sport Bike also has this stuff in a roll(you cut).

DEI firewall heat barrier (something like that) works really well on the seat and I'll get it stuck to the frame this winter when I can move the engine out of the way.

I have the side scoop and heat shield on my 09 SCG. It really helped. When I got the ECM flashed my fan runs more when I'm riding, and the heat problem has virtually disappeared.

I did recently put my cold weather seat back on, it was a welcome change the last time I could ride.
