I was at Perkins meeting my fiance after she just got off work and heard a fairly loud blat-blat-blat. Then got stopped as I was leaving buy a guy who asked if that was my scg in the parking lot and told him it was in which he replied he rides an 1125cr and his bud rides a 12r. Then I realized that was what I heard so I scoped them out in the parking lot and the 1125cr had a carbon fiber exhaust of some sort. The 12r had a round aluminum can with outlet(s) like the ones on my D&D. Anyone know what kind of exhausts those were? Thanks |

The carbon one may have been an FMF The other sounds like it may have been a Buell Race can |

Not the clearest pic, but did it look anything like the one on the left? That's the FMF Apex. Nels |

I'm pretty sure that's what the CR had on except that it didn't have any of the stickers on it like the pic above but that's what it looked like. As far as the Buell Race can, I doubt it was cause the race can is more of an oval-ish shape. This think looked like a scuba tank with outlets like a Micron but completely round, not flattened out or tapered. In fact it might have been a Remus but instead of the 2 collectors it just had one big one. I could be hear all day cause isn't there some 30 different companies/people who sold aftermarket exhausts for Buells? I thought there was only about 10. Spec Ops, D&D, Jardine, Micron, Hawk, Voodoo, Remus, Termignoni, Trojan... Who else did I leave out? |

The Drummer SS is a single outlet and could be mistaken for as "round" with just a quick glance. |

It may have been a GB exhaust. It's stainless with two outlets. Its uses a down pipe like a jardine then attaches to the muffle. I have one but not in a pic. They fit all xb bikes... http://picasaweb.google.com/Max.Bates.Johnson/GBEx haust?feat=directlink#5409280712787805202 Is this it if so Its a GB. no doubt. |

I'm pretty sure that's what it is is a GB. Only he must've fabricated some mounts for the chin skirt. He gave me a spot where most of the few Buells here in Lincoln hang out so I'll stop by and get the gist. Thanks guys! |

What did you use for the collector? And is that a lightbulb and socket for your catch can? Can't say I've ever heard of that being done before. |

F22 I'm interested in your exhaust setup too. It looks like a tuner car muffler. What does it sound like? |

What is best about the sound is the tone that really can't be recorded on a U-tube clip.it is fairly quiet at low throttle settings, but really barks at wide-open.Think along the lines of a Ducati with a set of good cans on it,not Harley open pipe sounding.I have yet to hear anything that sounds close...I ride with a guy with a Micron and he says mine sounds better!! I personally don't like the way the Drummer and it's clones sound, that is why I did my own.I did some work inside the muffler to get the back-pressure and flow I wanted.Doing it right and making the stock mounts work took alot of work and research, and people want me to give them all my specs and part sources. It is all out there, you just got to find it! |

Oh,I forgot to answer the question about my crank-case breather system....Light-bulb and socket!! Nope, but the system I made never needs to be emptied or drained. It is also isolated from external contamination.DAMN I really could contribute at Erik Buell Racing, just a few miles down the road...... |

I can vouch for how it sounds. I did a 15 mile loop with him when I met at Erik Buell Racing,I had just installed my race ecm in the parking lot so we went for a ride so it could learn. Very nice rumble at idle and pleasant enough putting thru town, but it barks with authority when he opened her up!Sent him a pm last week but he never got back to me. |

I've thought about raiding the local Autozone or other fake "tuner" store to look at the cheap mufflers to look at modifying for my 12R. Some inspiration. |

Srwitt you could always turn to eBay for a cheap can. I see them on there all the time for like $50 and less. |

The raw look is intentional....it best fits the nature of the beast...if it was an airplane, it would be an A-10. Slow, maneuverable, and a serious can of whoopass....we will leave pretty to the fighter jets. And it sounds absolutely awesome...a deep base note with some punch at speed. Nothing trick to it...a 11148 magnaflow muffler, a Jardine header elbow, cut the outlets at 22.5 degrees and rotated them for the turnouts....a couple of new clamps and it was done and on the road in a couple of leisurely hours.. The original of that muffler is by a fellow that goes by Gbalias on another forum. he is a professional metalworker that does very high end fabrication...his version is fully polished and has nice smooth hydroformed turnouts...he also gets 450 bux for one....but the quality is extremely high.. |

XBtwelver, Autozone, Napa, schucks, etc all have "tuner" cans for ~50 on up. No sense in paying shipping. |

i would be willing to bet that is a D&D can, i have the same on my xb12r and the tone you describe is very similar to mine. it has dual tips and is really slim compared to stock. |
