I am using a 2009 XB12R engine to mount to a bobber frame on which I will have open air box and straight drag pipes, like you have seen on custom harleys. Any recommendation on the tuning for my engine that I have to do, I am thinking ecmspy?? Also, is having a wide band oxygen sensor a must and where do I get one? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks |

You can do ECMSpy or an Erik Buell Racing ECM. Erik Buell Racing has lots of good stuff these days, although I'm not sure they have programmed an ECM for straight pipes. http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/page11.html Also you should post some pics when you finish. |

and you should put some baffles in it also... |

I will have baffles for sure but Racing ECM sold by Erik is not designed for straight pipes and that is why I thought it may not be a good choice? Is ecmspy my only and best option? Would it for sure do the trick for my 09 engine? Thanks a lot, Yes I will put pictures for sure later! |

ECMspy will not work for your needs on your bike. You can either get the fully programmable DDFI3 ECM from Erik Buell Racing or try and modify the stock one with Tunerpro |

Why wouldn't ecmspy work? |

ECMSPY only works with DDFI2 .... not the DDFI3 ECM on the latest bikes ... |

you have two choices to do this tune. either EcmSpy MONO or Tunerpro RT V5. these both work with all the ecms. out side of that your stuck to very very limited info. one last way is the fully programmable ebr ecm as well These are the only ways to do it. |

Hope you have decent access to a dyno to get some good mapping because I don't think anybody has mapped a straight-piped XB yet - baffled or not. There's a world of difference in reversion and flow between 2 straight pipes and a tuned exhaust besides the look. |

If ECMSpy MONO will for for me, I should be all set, right? Is Tunerpro better?.., I think both are free - any preferences?? Yes, I know tunning straight pipes will be tricky, not sure what will happen? |

not sure what will happen? A serious loss in torque!! I've rode my Buell without the pipe and some fuel map changes. It might sound awesome but thats about it. |

It seems like the ecmspy MONO needs a license that is not free, is that true??.. and how much? If back pressure is the issue when it comes to loosing torque, I will have some baffles, that is standard when using straight pipe, you place them inside the pipe where they connect to the head (Message edited by johnye75 on October 04, 2010) |

The mono is a donation to Paps Worth hospital. I have the full version every ecm but dont use it. I only use the Tunerpro since that was the Program I started with on other stuff out side of Bikes. I can use the mono for a few fast features when needed but its all doable in Tunerpro. plus T-pro havs a datalogging and auto fuel suggestion page I set into the ADX for giving you the values to use in the map. sortsa an Auto tune feature based from every sensor active. many use it and many good results... pick your way both work. demo mono does not link to the bike... only donation version per ecm type links plus its locked to the pc you install it on so be sure to install it on the one you want to use. the program will not run is transferred to a different pc.... Either way is good one way you use a data log with MLV and the other its all in one. search tunerpro on here and look at mono at the ecmspy site. thats you aftermarket choice. you pick. I only report whats best. free Tunerpro v5 rt road made datalogging to self adjust. then manually update values donation to Hospital MONO (set value) used with data log on road with MLV program to make the maps. Erik Buell Racing race ecm. (dyno needed)I dont know any help places besides calling ebr for this one. I have it but only used it a few times on race only ebr ecms at the track. |

This auto tune feature in TunerPro is already on my "wish list" and I think this may be the program that I try first. If my engine runs good with the straight pipes, it may just be the badest Bobber out there , for sure the fastest off the line , with this Buell engine, a? I am getting excited already! Any other thoughts? |

In which area of adx is this done? I think, this is an feature which is not configured in gunters adx-files on ecmspy? In the latest ADX definitions there is an 10bit TPS inside? Waht the hell is this? 10 bit no more 8 bit? And this new item load? no documentations. It is very good to have a own property of knowledge, xopti. But, the only one that goes public with really documented stuff is gunter, indeed. |
