Soooo, I wanted to give it some time before I posted and ride the bike a few times with the Mike Cobb map as well. The latest design option uses special high temp packing and right side exit. Kevin Drummer is a class act and worked with my time schedule and requests to a tee, he is truly a nice guy and his workmanship is quite good. The bike is an 04XB12R with less than 3k on the mill, it previously had the race kit and ECM with Jardine pipe on it. I really resisted putting a stock configuration pipe back on and adding weight back on the bike which moves me the opposite way of my weight reducing goals. The xtra 5 lbs or so did not hurt the handling at all which is nice. Even with the race map the bike ran better than with the Jardine, pulling hard and running smoother. I initially had issues getting the idle set after zeroing the tps but after some patience and a talk with KD I rode it around more and after my latest 45 minute ride keeping often between the 3-5k range as instructed the bike smoothed out started idleing better and....freakin scared me several times. The sheer power the bike has now is suprising, as you approach 5k you better hang on because it takes on a second wind that will shock and suprise. Now it pulls smoothly with very little surging and popping and will likely get even better with more miles and as the ECM learns. I had more performance mods planned frankly as I was sure the bike would need it. Now I am moving on to brakes and suspension. The bike needs no more power... I have been the fortunate owner of two previous Ducati's a 1098S TC and a stock 1098. This bike feels as fast, though I know it would get dusted over 100 the sheer torque and power has a scare factor right there with the Duc. Partly the bike screams because of the combo. The 04 design + Drummer RSE + Mike Cobb Map + De snorkel/K&N. All of this works very well together to create a new animal that I am extremely pleased with. wanna race....? lol

Good to hear it. I am a Drummer fan myself. I have been to see Kevin at his shop and have met him at VIR to watch his race team. He is a very good guy and makes a great product. I went with the SS for the weight saving but I also bought the original to use to chin plastic if I wanted a change. I am running the Erik Buell Racing ECM and its great. |

How much is the Drummer RSE? and what is the difference between it and the SS? |

The tank WINS hands down, I give I give...lol As far as price the only up charge is the new packing (30 bucks). The right side exit option he did not charge me for. Keep in mind it is an option NOT for aesthetics but more hp and I have no doubt this is true. The only concern is the closeness to the pulley wheel, I am going to try and get a bit more clearance for safety sake but it has never rubbed and looks quite tidy :-). |
