After a whole summer on the 1125cr and clocking around 5000 miles, i have to say i still prefer the xb. i know, i know the cr is faster, more powerful and really just cooler but the xb is like an old glove, it just fits! I have clocked over 25000 miles on my 2008 Firebolt with no problems. I catch myself so afraid of even touching the cr while ridding cause it scratches so easy it definitely seems more high maintenance. I can totally push the xb to the limits, the cr i am still a little scared of honestly. Don't get me wrong the cr wins hands down in every category but like my dear old wife, the xb may not do everything right but what she does right, she does very well. |

You aren't alone. I bought an 1125R last year and sold it only 1100 miles later. The XB fits my personality and street riding style better. The only way I'm getting rid of my 12S is if I get a Uly! |

My XB is great! I have come to the conclusion that if I ever get a CR (which is next on the short list), I will keep the XB. 2 is more fun than one! |

I test rode a Triumph Speed Triple the other weekend. As soon as I got off it I knew I preferred my XB and would be sticking with it. |

Mac, thats funny, I did the triumph demo days a couple months ago, test road the Street Triple, and the Daytona. While I wouldn't trade my 12R for either, they both made their way to the short list in a heart beat. |

I rode a Street Triple a few months ago, as well. I really liked the engine character and sound (through the Arrow pipe), but I felt the oomph was lacking. Top end hp was plenty, but the immediate 'big block' torque response of my 12S was missing. I haven't ridden a Speed Triple yet, but feel that might solve most of my gripes. Otherwise, I think the bike was very similar in demeanor to the XB...but with a smoother engine. |

Ohh, I liked the Speed Triple. I loved the power but it just didn't have the same visceral feel to it that my XB has. I also didn't really get the "triple sound". Everyone talks about how nice those engines sounds. To me they sounded too much like an Inline 4. |

There is no doubt that it sounds more like an I4 than a twin. But, they definitely sound 'different'. The Arrow pipe really made it sound nice. It's a nice gruff shriek. I'd call it a mix of 1125 and CBR600. |

"same visceral feel to it that my XB has" I guess that is all relative. I went to my local dealer when they announced the fire sale last year with the sole intent of leaving with either a 12Ss or a CR hadn't ridden either prior to the visit. Rode both back to back for a good 45 minutes each on the same roads I normally ride my X1. Wife had already warned me there was room for only one bike so the X1 had to go. Well, guess what I still ride? The X1. Even at those shamefully ridiculous prices, I still could not bring myself to get one. Both were awesome bikes but speaking of visceral, X1 is all heart and soul...Told the wife if she really loved me she would let me get one of each. She said I do love you but not that much... |

My XB hasn't seen much use since getting the CR. I remember right after test riding the CR, my XB was in the shop getting a stator and I told the service manager to keep the XB. Visceral feel is a load of crap, last thing I want is my bike to feel like it is about to explode while leaned over in a turn. |

I went for a demo ride on a 1125CR two years ago and I was impressed with the power of the thing. At the time I thought the 1125R and the 1125CR looked kind of ugly, but these days I love the way they look and especially the 1125CR. |

especially the 1125CR. I'm with ya there! There's a reason I don't go out and ride a CR............. I would come home broke, and she would be PISSED! |

If that's so he should be working with Cysz. Might be the electrical source he's looking for. There is a resemblance between a warp nacelle and a buell muffler. What temps do they get out of a warp drive? Anti-matter refills must be a bitch. And Dilithium crystals, what would be the light year warranty on them? Buell, Own the Corners and Space-Time. |

There are quite a few "Tuber vs XB vs 1125" threads scattered about here, and the common theme I am hearing is "personal preference". I have ridden a tuber and a XB, and I prefer the XB, it feels more refined. I have yet to ride a 1125, and I don't really want to, I already have a fast bike (gsxr), and I don't ride it much, I prefer the comfort and mpg of my XB. Now, if I could find a CR with high bars, Lightning tail, and full fairing for $5k, I'd be all over it! |

I'm lucky enough to have an S3 tuber, xb12ss and 1125cr. The xb is indeed more refined than a tuber as one would expect. The cr (w/ high bars & uly pegs) has the same excellent ergos and similar handling to the xb, but marries it with a killer motor. I like 'em all, but if I could only have one it would be the cr. It is truly an amazing machine. |

The CR is the the most fun to ride but the quirks (heat and stator issues) convinced me to get rid of it. |

Funny, the XB have more heat issues, and their stators aren't immune to failure either... |

The 2009 xb12 I just got which is stock does not generate near the amount of heat my CR did even with Erik Buell Racing ECM. The XB is also not a right foot roaster. My tuned 2006 XB12 was even cooler. I bet the total number of stator failures on all XB bikes from 2003 to 2010 is less than just 2009 1125 failures. |

You seriously will not want to put money on that. Remember, they changed the design of the stators for 2008 to a lower output unit to prevent issues. Also, read just about any XB review, and you will see the reviewer mention heat issues. Buell even came out with a comfort kit that provided a heat shield and redirected airflow to reduce heat related discomfort. That said, both my 1125's run much cooler in terms of rider felt heat than my XB's. |

Froggy. Many 1125 owners including myself have commented and been unable to explain how you got the only cool running 1125CR. XB's are hot but neither XB i have owned was as hot as my CR. |

I can only speak from my experiences, but... Yes, the XB can run warm. With the factory right side scoop, though, my fan hardly ever turns on. In fact, it usually only turns on after I turn the bike off. The only time the fan came on this summer was when I got stuck and stood in 100 degree traffic. My 1125R was unbearable with heat. My buddy's 1125CR (ridden back to back with my XB12S in late July) was like sitting in a fire. The three 1125's that I rode back to back at Buell's last Inside Pass roasted my foot and ankle through my boots and leathers. Say what you want, but most people's experiences say the 1125 is a vastly hotter machine....especially the 2009+ bikes. And sure, there are stator failures on the XB....especially if you used gear oil in your primary case. Let's call a spade a spade. The XB's failure rate was much lower than the 1125. |

I don't have the only cool running one, I don't know ANYONE that I ride with that has had any heat issue on an 1125. Even with the stators, so far I am the only one of them that has had one fail. I got that fixed under warranty and have been fine since. |

The XB stator is a Harley part, and easy to get. Is the 1125's stator common? |

I have an XB and am already planning a newer Buell for next year around Aug-Sep. The 1125R is my first choice though I would easily take another XB it would have to be the last of its kind the 2010 XB12R which I may never find. I can accept that each have their merit and would like to keep my 04 and add the 1125 to the stable. I also fully expect the 1125 to be a bit more maintenance intensive and maybe not quite as reliable but that is to be expected since it is a more advanced water cooled design. |

Your right F1fletch, I like to tell people to help people put it into perspective, if my XB is like a Camaro, then the CR is a Corvette! |

I've only had my STT for a week, am already selling my Kawasaki Versys, and am hooked on this Frame/chassis. I love the motor, but I am hooked on these bikes, I am already planning on ADDING a 1125CR, but I will keep the STT, love both! |
