Hello all, just an update on the 1420cc japanese sportbike beating buid .
Tuning the DOWNSIDE of the ECU we have been fine tuning .With the big performace /HP gain the bike isnt as streetable as stock of course, 50mph+ is where the bike likes to run. When you max the HP in and engine The faster your riding the better the bike likes it, but with the 52mm wheelbase you have to work to keep the front end down when your driving off slower corners. Head temps have been running only 275 max and oil temps run 150 degrees. Looking at an dyno sheet of the actual factory XBRR( our engine = more displacement ) our HP is Equal with more torque so im proud to say the 19 row forced air cooler is a great success. TIME/MILES will tell common case crack that occurs at the base of the V on big HP Buell/Harley engines has been cured being cool metal is much stronger.

REVIEW: As a SECOND bike going ALL out with a build where cost is no object its a success. The Buell XB12R firebolt was always the best handling bike out there but now your able to power away from even the fastest, newest trick superbike(the BMW S1000) on the bottom end . It is fun leaving riders of newest/best jap/euro liter bikes speechless. Being beaten by a Harley engined Buell is beond there comprehention. If you Absolutly have to shut up a big mouthed PITA neighbor who owns a ZX10R/GSXR1000 even the S1000 its the way to go.
BUT If your Buell is your sole ride , the economy Build at 115 hp is the way to go, the last 20HP is where you have to invest much more time and money. The 115HP build wont have you trouncing the ZX10R/GSXR1000 BUT you WILL run head to head with them on short/medium straits.
That AND your bike will be more streetable for around town cruising . My MAX HP at all cost build 1420cc Buell firebolt is my Favorite bike of the 10 bikes in my garage of Ducati 1198. Triumph 1050 Sprint st,ect ect ( and ALL of the Top Jap superbikes ive owned before ZX10,14 Honda cbr1000, YamahaFZ1, GSXR1000 ect) but its NOT a day to day ride . Again, for that i think the 115HP build is the way to go.MUCH cheaper cost wise and a more versital ride.

Even though the build was a successful one ( and ive had UNsuccessful builds as well LOL) I Just wanted to try to let you see both sides, the good , and the bad.

Jake thanks for the post nice to hear from you. I have some questions...

1. I have heard that balancing the crank yields great benefits and allows higher revving, what are your thoughts...?
2. What is the complete list for the 115hp build?
3. Why does no one ever talk of ignition upgrades, better coils etc..is the stock stuff that good?

Thanks, Fletch

HEY FLETCH IN A NUTSHELL 7500 IS THE MAX TOU CAN GET OUT OF THE ENGINE RELIABLY. BUELL RACING TRIED EVERYTHING TO GO 8000/8500 ONLY TO HAVE AN ENGINE BLOW UP PRACTICALLY EVERY RACE. OUR 1420CC AND THE XBRR 1320CC ENGNE HAVE PRACTICALLY IDENTICAL OUTPUTS OURS JUST HAS 10/15 LBS MORE TORQUE DUE TO LONGER STROKE ...BUT ... OUR 1420CC HAS RELIABLITY DUE IN PART TO 6800REDLINE AND COOLER RUNNING ENGINE .. AS FAR AS THE IGNITION I THOUGHT THE SAME THING BUT RUNNNING ONLY 6800 RPM THE DIFFERANCE ISNT NOTICABLE .

fLETCH I WAS RUNNIG OUT THE DOOR LAST POST,SORRY FOR THE SHORT ANSWER.

THE REASON A HARLEY HAS AN INHERANT LOW RPM LIMIT IS THE FACT THAT AT A 45 DEGREE V CONFIGURATION , COUPLED WITH USING ONLY A SINGLE CRANK PIN , BOTH LARGE PISTONS RISE AND FALL TOGETHER . THE RECIPERCATING MASS IS SO GREAT , EVEN THE BEST CARRILLO RODS SNAP LIKE PENCILS AT 7500/8000 RPM. THEY TRYIED EVEN LARGER DRAG RACING RODS, BUT AGAIN THE ADDED WEIGH DEFEATED THE PURPOSE.

FLETCH I KEEP TELLING ANDY AND BILL(SIMONS COMPITITION) TO COME ON HERE AND POST A COMPONENT LIST FOR BOTH THE ULTIMATE BUILD ,AND THE ECONOMY BUILD. UNFORTUNATLY THE ARE UP TOP THERE EYEBALLS IN WORK 6AM TO 9PM 6DAYS A WEEK. BILL LOVES COMPUTER WORK BUT HES EVEN TO TIRED .

dONT HOLD ME TO THIS ... BUT.. B-2 HEADS WITH 2 INCH? RACE VALES, SPRINGS ECT. pOLISHING/PORTING. RACE ECM TUNING,PLAIN HEAD TO RAISE COMPRESSION TO 12.5:1 COMPRESSION,BORE THROTTLE BODY AND NOW RACE INJECTORS DUE TO LOWER COST FROM ECM.

THE EXHAUST IS A QUESTION MARK BECAUSE i DONT KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CAN MODIFY THE STOCK UNIT. oR BUY A CHEAPY AFTERMARKET AND MAKE IT FLOW. iM SURE THERE ARE THINGS IM MISSING BUT YOU GET THE IDEA . yOU CN ALSO CHANGE THE PRIMARY GEARING OFF THE CRANK TO THE TRANNY BUT WITH MORE HP LOWERING THE INPUT GEAR WOULD MAKE THE ENGINE REV TOO QUICKLY THUS MAKING THE INSTALLATION OF THE LOWER GEARING A STEP BACKWARD.

BTW I WOULDNT ALLOW EITHER BUILD TO BE DONE WITHOUT THE FORCED AIR OIL COOLER. WHY INCREASE THE PERFORMACE IF IT WILL DESTROY ENGINE?JAK

Hi Fletch , Twins has 1t , Solo Buell( spain). YOYODYNE sells the big oil cooler unit scoop , but you have to go on Ebay and find/buy the oil cooler radiator. For the race bike we use the same scoop but modified it to use a7X12 inch radiator. That size would be TOO large for street Buell . Our race bike has MASSIVE amount of displaceent. ANDY is taking pics , AND HOTBIKEsaid they want to run feature on the racebike!! So everyone can see the artical photographs ( dont worry we will give the site a plug lol)Sorry about short answer its late and im exhausted . take cae Jake
