So I got a new battery from interstate. Went to put it in and was just a tad bit bigger. No problem I will just bend the bracket out a tad and there we go. So I hook it up and the fan came on. I’m thing its hot but not that hot (the bike has not run in weeks). I un do the + side and on the battery it has a big – o sh!$. So I get a new battery and the right one this time. I hook it up, and turn on the key and nothing. Open the fuse box and all are fine but the “key”. So I put a new 15a in it and pop. 20a pop. Volt meatier time 12v and 11-12.13a. What am I missing or what else should I check. |

I just did this same thing, unplug the start stop switch on the handle bar. Insert a fuse or test light and turn on.If the fuse doesn't blow or the test light doesn't illuminate that's more than likely your issue. I smoked a starter switch. I also replaced the relays because the switch runs through them. hope this helps RQ |

You said that you bend the battery bracket! Look ad the harness that is closest to the upper left corner of the bracket ,if you see the tape is damaged maybe there is the short!? look real good/close because one small puncture is enough! |

Somebody else did this a while back, and I don't recall the "fix". Thanks for posting your experience Wheely! Barnyard, when you do get it sorted, if you could post a list of all the stuff you fried, that would be really helpful to somebody in the future! Fixing stuff probably won't be that bad, it'll be finding the stuff that needs to be fixed that will be most of the work. |

well the battery was in the right box but just the wrong battery. and I will do anything possible not to talk to the jack a$$ at the HD shop. I love my Buell but i will never buy anything from them if I do not have to. |

The Kill switch assembly on the bars, and the 2 relays. easy diagnostics. take out both relays, unplug handlebar start/stop switch. replace fuse, turn on ignition. plug in switch,if fuse pops, you got it. if good do the relays one, then the other. I was party to and or somewhat involved in the SAME issue. wrong polarity on Battery, fan on when installed"oh shit time"start troubleshooting.
