Three weeks and still don't have the Service Manual -- I guess the guy who was typing it by hand must of got tired and took off for the holidays...

Doing the 1K service in my shop, and going to lube and adjust throttle cables. though I've done my BT's and Sportsters a million time, heard there may be some kill switch issue or such with the XB12R throttle housing, and some trick to adjusting the slack? Or is it the same as the other HD stuff?

Are there any special issues with the cables on the XB12R?

Thanx in advance,

Steve H

Per the manual for my XB12R

1. Remove airbox cover and base plate.

2. Loosen cable adjuster lock (thick disc) on each cable.

3. Turn adjusters (thin disc) in direction which will shorten cable housings to minimum length.

4. Point front wheel straight ahead. Twist throttle control grip to fully open position; hold in position.

5. Turn adjuster on throttle cable until throttle cam stop touches stop plate. Tighten jam nut on throttle control cable adjuster; release throttle control grip.

6. Turn handlebars fully to right. Turn adjuster on idle control cable until end of cable housing just touches the cable guide.

7. Twist and release throttle control grip a few times. Throttle plate must return to idle position each time throttle grip is released. If this is not the case, turn adjuster on idle control cable (shortening cable housing) until throttle control functions properly.

8. Tighten cable adjuster lock on idle control cable. Recheck operation of throttle control.

9. Recheck engine slow idle speed; adjust if required.

10. Install airbox, base plate and intake cover assembly.
