I need to know how to tell if the valve is still in my muffler...I just bought my first XB (12scg) with 2200 miles. The prev. owner already put a special ops exhaust on. My understanding was that those retained the stock valve and body, but since e b r asked if it had one or not, I want to make sure. All I can say so far is that the cable on top the airbox did retract the cable for a second when I just fired it up. I suspect that is the actuator cable? Would it move even if the other end wasnt connected to anything?

Yes,however there is a spring on the valve to pull it back closed so you might be able to tell if there is any spring tension on the other end of the cable.
