Hi all, I have a 2006 XB12R, drummer exhaust, race ECM, K+N filter, bar end mirrors. Love the bike. I live near Flagstaff Az. My fav ride: starts at the AZ snow bowl ski area (photo). Just a slight pressure on the bars, not really a prob, but just wandering it this is normal or I have a slight steering problem. 5) Anybody else planning to do track days at Firebird Raceway (phoenix) this winter? yes there is a rev limiter. when it is low on fuel  I would say leave it open. not sure on the brake problem and not in the AZ area so that would be a no for me. Welcome to the board also. | ||

Yes.
When you are low on gas.
Plugged. If it is open, that is effectively an intake leak.
Sounds like a technique problem. In general, you shouldn't increase brake pressure while leaned over. | ||

Welcome! 1)Yes, theres a rev limiter. 2)Low fuel light comes on at about 25 miles from walking (driving nice). 3)I plugged the vacuum tube with a piece from napa. 30 cents. 4) Too many variables involved to tell. How fast? Riding position? Tires? Pressure? Road condition? Try to get your braking done before you enter the corner. I only practice braking in corners for emergency stops. Depending on which brake I'm using dictates how the bike reacts. 5) I live in WI. I have an 05 Bolt. How do the bar end mirrors work for you. I never put any on mine because I thought I would be looking around my arm to get a view. Yet I have never tested it. Whats your opinion on them? Cheers!  | ||

Hey, thanks for the quick responses everyone. I've put about 1800mi on the bike, never hit the limiter and never seen the low fuel light, but nice to know they are there. I know the steering thing is hard to explain, you almost have to ride it. If I slow into a right hand turn as I approach the apex, at modest speed (not race speed), even with out brakes, just let off the gas slowly, I will feel the bike want to turn further right, in a way I have not noticed on other bikes. The bike handles great in all other respects. I may try some minor suspension tweaks and see what happens. The mirrors are oberon. expensive but really nice machine work, lock down and never move. I like them, and would buy again. But they are the bare minimum you can get away with, very small. You have to adjust your viewing angle more than with larger mirrors. I do look over my shoulder when changing lanes. | ||

I've got an '07 12ss, not sure if there is much of a difference in gas mileage, but i think i've made it 30 miles or so with the gas light on. But then i've also had run out in the high 20's before, so i guess it depends. Just fill up by 15 or 20 after and you should be fine, that's usually when i fill up. | ||

Yes, but you can up it 500rpm e.g. for track days, using ECM Spy. 2 About 25 miles before empty 3 Dunno 4 Buells are renowned for doing the opposite - ie. braking makes 'em stand up not fall in to a corner 5 No problem, I can get time off work just send me the airfare and I can be there. The fuel range after the light comes on will greatly vary depending on your riding conditions. I've gone 36 miles with the light on, and it still was full enough that the light would flicker on and off while on the sidestand. | ||

I went close to 30 miles yesterday with the light on and this morning I did not have to push it to a gas station. I was a little nervous though. | ||

Looking for the first time at my owners manual on my "new" 08 XB12scg..It says Max RPM of 7100 for all 1203 models, with 6800 RPM sustainable. (My 2000 M2 with race ECM would cut out at 6800) It also says reserve lamp illuminates at 0.83 gallons, where the "F trip" odometer starts counting. On the longer frame (maybe like yours?) the reserve lights up at 0.75 gallons. | ||

1)Is there a rev limiter? already covered 2)When dose the low fuel light come on? covered as well but I advise filling as soon as possible, the pumps don't take well to running on low fuel or out of fuel. the fuel cools the pump less fuel means less cooling and hotter fuel 3)On the right side of the throttle body is a tube connection, used to go to evap can, should this be plugged or open? Just a slight pressure on the bars, not really a prob, but just wandering it this is normal or I have a slight steering problem. what you are doing is called trail braking, its a controversial technique (right or wrong, I do it as well). the front brake will stand the bike up a bit and pull you to the inside as it does so. the rear will load the suspension stabilizing the bike a bit and take out some of the mid corner bobble or twitch. 5) Anybody else planning to do track days at Firebird Raceway (phoenix) this winter?
