I bought a 2009 Buell Lightning XB12scg 3 weeks before the "announcement" news last October. I am just now considering mods for it. I have about $500 I want to spend. A GPR steering damper would put me right at the limit. Or I could go with Rizo levers, HID lights and Aprilia mirrors. What do you guys think? |

I'd seriously consider springs on front/rear to match your intended riding. Not sure if re-valving will bust your budget on top of springs. Springs, valves and a notebook to record setting changes is a GREAT investment (don't bother with motor - yet) |

I've been playing with the suspension settings. They are not quite perfect yet. Still get a bit of bouncing at higher speeds when the road is not smooth. I don't even want to put a K&N or upgrade muffler on it. She runs great as is. |

If she runs great as is, then why bother? Work on the suspension (free) and ride her. Then use that money to pay for new tires. That's been my biggest expense. |

I'd go with the levers HID's and mirrors. Look into bar end mirrors too, some love them some hate them. Either way they take some getting used to; but I'll never go back, the visibility is 100x better. |

Delta- I have bar-end weights. I had bar-end mirrors on my Blast I liked them but now with the weights I want to keep my mirrors in stock locations. |

I have many great mods and I researched them all before doing them. i would recomind that you get a right side scoop. You can get a cheap one or a costly one. They both do the same thing its just one looks better then the other. So what ever you choose it will make a huge diff in your riding enjoyment. It keeps your motor much cooler and your fan will come on much less. It is really a good investment. The second mod I would recomind is a good air box cover protector. they cost aroun d $20 and it keeps your pants or jacket zipper or even a belt buckle from scratching your airbox cover. Plus it adds your own indiviuality to it. There are so many to choose from, just make sure you take your time putting it on. These are two less then risky mods you could start with to kinda get you into it. It will also give you an opertunity to get used to researching for buell stuff before you get into the big cool stuff, like exhause, ect. Also you can clean your headers with green scotch bright scrubby pads and WD-40. It will make them look awsome. Its cheap and it will look like you invested money. So have fun and make it your own. Start small then go big. |
